Announcement   Welcome to Poplar Hollow Studio where folk art is created with gourds! Many of the gourds are grown on our PA farm. These creations include OOAK (one-of-a-kind) sweet old-fashioned santas and snowfolk, Halloween Jacks & witches, whimsical chickens & owls & the vintage inspired moons to name a few.

Each piece is individually handpainted with meticulous attention to detail. Often I simply use the gourd in its original form and shape and paint it. Other pieces are mixed media creations fashioned with the addition of hand-sculpted clay, wooden pedestal bases and/or embellishments such as vintage style tinsel, charms and found objects. Each piece is given a handrubbed antique finish to give it an aged look and add to the old-fashioned charm.

A few gourds that are just too pretty to cover with paint I relinquish to my husband, Bob, to create beautiful pyroengraved and carved vessels and luminaries.

I am inspired by the beauty of nature that surrounds my country home & studio. The simplicity of country life on the farm, the changing seasons, an affinity for treasures from a bygone era and holiday traditions...these things are all celebrated in my work.

No two gourds are exactly alike...each is an original collectible, signed and dated. My wish...to light up a face...yours or a special someone...with one of my gourds.

After working in healthcare and the greenhouse industry for many years, it was time to switch gears. I've been blessed to be doing what I love for the last 10 years growing and evolving as an artist. Welcome to my shop!

    Pyrography Gourd Artist/Gourd Grower/Assistant

I wish my husband Bob was in the studio full time with me, but am grateful for any time he devotes to the shop! Bob works full time as a road superintendent but when he is able he creates wonderful pyroengraved and carved gourds!

Additional policies and FAQs
Please note: All our gourds are decorative and for indoor display with the exception of birdhouse gourds which can be used as a decorative accent or a functional house. Gourds are a product of nature, so each gourd is uniquely shaped with its own texture, markings, pits and imperfections that all lend to the uniqueness of each piece. Our gourds are never considered to be toys and should be kept out of the reach of small children.
