Love Farm to Fork? Then you're going to LOVE Barn to Yarn!
If you're into the slow food movement, shopping local, supporting farmers, and knowing where your food comes from, then this is the yarn for you.
These yarns are perfect for crocheters, knitters and weavers. If you have any questions at all about the suitability of a particular yarn for a project, you are more than welcome to convo me.
I raise sheep, goats and alpacas on top of Sand Mountain in NE Alabama on 45 acres. Every animal here is tended by me, named, loved, sheared by me personally.
I take the fleeces and skirt and process them by hand under my carport, before dyeing in my fiber kitchen and spinning them into a piece of fiber art that I hope you will love.
I enjoy the immersive process of working with fleeces and creating yarns that show off the natural beauty of the crimp, softness and curl of natural fibers.
I run a farm-based, hands-on program called Barn to Yarn (www.barntoyarn.farm) that walks visitors through this whole process, right from choosing their fleece 'on the hoof' to holding their very own skein of yarn that's just as hand made as can be!
If you are looking for raw fleeces, roving, or batts, please visit my other Easy store, Poppy Creek Farm - http://www.poppycreekfarm.etsy.com

5 out of 5 starsIf this fiber were a flower, it would be in the coleus family. Jewel tones with variegated colors and textures. The satin thread striping adds just the right amount of contrast. beautiful!

My Wensleydale sheep are my absolute favorites to make yarn from! Their fleeces are amazing.
You’ve seen Farm to Table, now meet Barn to Yarn.
When I look at a raw fleece, whether it is wool, alpaca or mohair, I see the miracle of Mother Nature; this creature lives outside, grows this wool over the course of a year, and somehow it is still soft and perfect and something that we fiber artists love to craft into beautiful wearable art.
Helping my fiber animals to grow amazing fleeces is something that I am entirely immersed in day to day, providing quality feed and hay, ensuring that everyone has shelter and somewhere comfortable to be away from the weather - whether that's -10f or 105f! - and assisting them in raising the next generation of fiber producers.
I live and breathe this beautiful chaos, and out of it comes the raw fleece that is crafted into fiber art that I can't believe I am lucky enough to have had a hand in creating.
