We are a super small business - run by James & Poppy. We make, personalise, pack & ship every single product/order ourselves. As such, we have a processing time of 1-3 days to give us a chance to make and pack your order.
Please bear this in mind with respect to estimated delivery dates. We will try and get your order out ASAP, but we work strictly in date order (to be fair to everybody) so please assume your order will take a couple of days to process before it gets into the postal system.

If you select free shipping at the checkout and are based in the UK, this is the service we use. It takes 2-3 days. We use this service as the tracking is far superior to standard first/second class and offers greater reassurance to our customers. It is slightly slower than first class but quicker (generally) than second class. (It is also a 'business' service and prioritised over standard 1st/2nd class at busy times). Free shipping is available on all our jewellery & scarves as they are small/light items that ship as 'large letters'. We are unable to offer free shipping on larger/heavier items that have to go as 'parcels'.


If you need your order quicker, you can select either Royal Mail 24 or Royal Mail Next Day Guaranteed (this arrives before 1pm the day after the order is shipped).

All our products are made, created and/or personalised in our own home studio in Manchester, north west England by either James or Poppy.

The home of engraved, personalised and thoughtful jewellery & gifts - with a strong animal lover theme

We are a husband and wife (and four cats) team and have been creating jewellery and attending craft fairs since 2006. We started off making and selling beaded jewellery with crystals and beads and exhibiting at craft fairs in the Manchester and Yorkshire area and now attend craft fairs and shows throughout the UK

Our range has developed to engraved, personalised and thoughtful gifting. We specialise in personalised jewellery and gifts and there is a strong animal theme running through our creations.

Both of us are huge animal lovers and many of our pieces are inspired by our love of animals and the natural world. As well as being huuuuge animal lovers, particularly cats, we also love Greece and the Mediterranean, Medieval and Tudor history, baking, travelling and scuba diving. In fact, before starting on the jewellery making journey, Poppy worked as a scuba diving instructor in Australia and Malaysia and James worked all over the UK in conservation and for the National Trust.

Thank you all so very much for your support and enthusiasm for Poppy Kitten Designs it means so much to us.

It is our dream to one day have our own shop by the sea, either in Devon/Cornwall or one of the Greek Islands (Poppy is originally from Serifos) and spend our time creating and with our animals.

Custom and personalised orders

We do NOT accept returns on personalised orders unless faulty on arrival. Please let us know immediately on arrival if this is the case.

*Personalised Orders
To minimise typos and spelling mistakes, we copy and paste exactly what you enter into the personalisation box, so please do double check your personalisation request before placing your order. It is the customer's responsibility to make sure the personalisation is exactly as they would like it engraved/printed. This includes the language, alphabet, roman numerals etc.

You must provide your personalisation in the form in which it is to appear on the product.
We will not 'translate' anything for you - including converting dates into Roman numerals for example.

Care instructions

Our plated items are fashion jewelry & will last longer if cared for correctly.
1) Don't wear your jewelry whilst showering, swimming, applying body lotion & perfume. It should be the last thing you put on & the first thing you take off.
2) Store 'like' type metals together.
3) Some people have more acidic skin than others. This causes plating to wear faster. There is nothing you can do about genetics. This can be a matter of days for some people - even hours.

Unfortunately, it is the case with ALL plated items that the plating will wear off eventually. This is unavoidable.

The only way to avoid this problem, is to buy sterling silver/pure gold instead (which is much more expensive). We have a large range of sterling silver too.

SNAPPED CHAINS POLICY : We do NOT replace/refund snapped chains. If the chain has broken at the clasp, this can be a manufacturing fault & we will replace/refund.

Snapped chains are common with jewelry – both small shops like ours & the most expensive, luxury brands. Chain is not designed to & nor can it, stand much force.

A chain will snap because force has been applied - eg catching on clothing. This is accidental damage, not a fault in the product
Our chain is delicate. Dainty jewelry is very beautiful but the downside is that it can’t stand much force & will snap if caught.
The wire making chain is often less than 0.5mm thick (sometimes even 0.1). This applies even if it’s pure gold & even if you paid a lot of money for it

It’s easily done & it’s frustrating. It’s just the nature of delicate jewelry.

Please bear this in mind when deciding whether to make your purchase.

Uncollected Orders/Parcels Returned to Us.

On occasion we receive parcels returned to us as the address has been incomplete; refused or is incorrect. In the event of parcels being returned to us for any of these reasons we will contact you immediately on receipt to let you know.
We can resend the parcel, but you will need to pay for shipping again unless the wrongly addressed parcel was our fault - it is the customer's responsibility to ensure the address given is correct when placing the order.

Parcels Not Collected From Post Office :
We are happy to refund the cost of the items in the parcel but not the original shipping fee if the parcel is returned simply because it has not been collected from the Post Office by the recipient.

Where's My Tracking Number ?

All parcels will be sent tracked. Please check your dispatch e mail for the tracking number, where you will be able to click the link to follow your parcel's progress.

We offer free shipping for jewellery/scarf orders shipped to UK addresses. For the free service we use Royal Mail 48 which delivers in 2-4 days. Please note that we are unable to offer free shipping for our heavier items.

If you would like your order faster, you can upgrade to Royal Mail 24 - which is next day, or Guaranteed before 1pm.

These are fully tracked services.

Do you offer discounts for purchases of more than one item?

No.

This would be totally unfair on our many customers who purchase many items in their order at the advertised price.

This is something we are very strict on & there are no exceptions to this.

From time to time, we do receive convos asking if we will do a discount for 2 or more items. The answer is always the same and it is the same answer for everybody. No.

Unless part of a 'sale' or 'special offer' which will be advertised in our shop and available to everybody - all our customers will pay the same price for the same item(s).

Not happy with your order? If you are unhappy with your order for any reason at all, please do contact us and we will get back to you ASAP to work with you. Customer Service is very important to us and we want all our customers to be happy with their jewellery.

We aim to answer all convos and messages ASAP (and always within 24 hours) but due to time differences around the world, we are sometimes unable to respond straightaway.....rest assured though, we promise to get back to you ASAP.

Please let us know within 14 days of receiving your order if you would like to return it. You then have a further 14 days in which to return the order back to us.

The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.

We will issue you a refund (excluding return postage) on receipt of the item(s). Returned items must be unworn/unused & in a resalable condition.
NB we only refund standard postage, not upgraded/express.

When Will You Post My Order Out?

Our current processing time is 1-3 working days. We make all our orders in date order. Therefore your order is usually posted 2 days after it's placed, due to the volume of orders we have.

**We CANNOT give any sort of estimated delivery dates, so please bear this in mind when placing your order.

The 'estimated' dates given by Etsy are auto-generated and are just that, 'estimated'. We cannot amend these or remove the feature.
Please do not rely on these dates. They can be wildly inaccurate.

We do not see 'notes to seller' on orders until we actually open up the order to make it, so if you need your order by a specific date, please contact us by convo so we can advise if it is likely to arrive in time.

I Need to Cancel My Order!

No problem, we understand that sometimes things change and we want all our customers to be happy.

For our 'ready to ship' pieces, you can cancel your order at any time before the order is marked as 'shipped'. Once the order has been posted, obviously we cannot cancel...but you are welcome to return the parcel, unused/unworn for a full refund once you receive it.

For our personalised/handstamped pieces - if we have started work on your piece then often we are unable to cancel the order.
Please do contact us though as often we can come to some agreement.

Our current processing time is 1-3 working days and we work through all our orders in the date order in which they are placed.
