Glen Ellyn, Illinois · 609 Sales

Announcement   IF SHIPPING SEEMS HIGH, especially for a multi item order, please message me through Etsy for an individually calculated shipping quote.

Please enjoy a virtual pottery gallery showing the clay art of Cecily Clare Gillespie.
Stoneware pottery and porcelain art range through copper wire wrapped porcelain art jewelry, stoneware mugs, charging stations, and gallery pottery. One may find both jewelry supplies, sewing supplies and knitting tools in the form of handmade buttons, yarn bowls and handmade beads.

One of the easiest ways to browse the shop is by sections as I try to keep my sections to one to two pages of closely related clay art pieces.

Feel free to message me through Etsy with any questions or comments you may have.

I'm glazing away on a set of turquoise dinner plates. This pattern comes in a variety of glaze colors.
A custom order of eight dinner plates are coming out of their first firing. Glazing and the final firing is next.

About

All things made from clay.....

I have long been captivated by a material called clay. And my story starts with that captivation. I was walking through college registration trying to fill out the classes I needed when I noticed a graduate student standing on a table shouting at the top of his voice "Get your Fine Art required credit here!". I needed that particular credit and the grad student was rather hard to avoid so I signed up for the class.

That class was a clay class and it was a revelation to me. I had not only found a calling as an artist but I had also found the medium that would captivate me for the rest of my life. For the most part, I have taught clay and art in order to support my habit.

Various businesses all centered around art, clay and teaching have supported my clay habit over the years. Porcelain Jazz is but the latest of these businesses. Right now the business is being moved, household, office, pot shop and all, into a house I just bought with a little single car garage shop along side.

The shop needs renovating desperately. I will be putting up photos of the shop renovation and move in on face book here.... https://www.facebook.com/pages/PorcelainJazz-by-Cecily-Smith-Maples/207602810769

Right now I'm moving my pottery shop along with my entire house. I'm looking forward to transforming an old single car garage into a pottery studio. It needs insulation, interior sheathing, electrical work and eventually plumbing. I will update here

Welcome to Porcelain Jazz. It is a pleasure to get to know you. Please remember all of my art work is hand made and, therefore, no two pieces are exactly alike. Even 'matched' pairs and 'sets' may show individual variances due to their handmade nature.

Also please be aware that monitors differ in their color settings. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for color shifts in products due to variations in monitor color settings

Please let us know if the item is a gift so that we can remove price tags and gift wrap your item. This service is complimentary.

We do not give or sell any information about you to anyone else.

Returns and exchange details
A return shipment should be returned packed in the same manner and, if possible, packing material that it arrived in. Please remember that your refund for broken pieces comes out of the proceeds from insurance. The exception to this policy is items under $20 and less than 13oz.. These items are self insured by Porcelain Jazz.

Please contact us immediately if you have a problem with anything we have shipped you. We cannot accept returns after two months.

If you find it necessary to return a piece we would appreciate an explanation as to what was wrong with it. We are very sorry but we cannot refund shipping either way. We will refund the actual cost of the piece once the piece is in our possession again. If breakage occurs we will reimburse you out of the proceeds of the insurance.

If you cancel an order before shipment a full refund of both shipping and price will be given.
Payment
We are set up to accept PayPal or Etsy's direct checkout using a credit card. We also accept Etsy gift cards.
Shipping
We strive to ship within 3 business days of the receipt of your order. Weekends and religious holy days may lengthen your shipment's time in house as may very busy times. We are extremely careful in our packing using bubble-wrap, peanuts and/or styrofoam inserts.

In spite of all precautions sometimes breakage does occur. Please if this happens keep all of your wrappings and the piece. We insure most pieces in transit and we will be working with you to get you your money back from the shipper. The only exceptions to our insurance policy are porcelain beads and other items under 13oz and $20 in value.

We ship through Etsy. Therefore, the US Postal Service is used. If a piece is small and light enough it may be shipped by USPS first class in which case it may go in only a padded envelope. Otherwise shipment is ground parcel post or Priority Mail, whichever is least expensive.

If you wish to see a tutorial on how we pack please visit https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.290773580769.156303.207602810769&type=3

Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred. We cannot be responsible for shipping problems past the borders of the United States. All international shipping is at your own risk.

ADDITIONAL BUTTON AND BEAD INFORMATION:

Buttons and beads may be hand-washed without difficulty. But they are not recommended for the washer or dryer since being flung up against the sides of the washer or dryer may break the porcelain.

Please feel free to message me through Etsy to ask for a different listing of quantities or sizes or just to ask a question.
