Sehr netter Kontakt. Mütze passt perfekt und auch die Farbe stimmt haargenau mit dem Bild überein. Danke nochmal!

I love the hat. The natural dyes are very apparent, and it is completely historically accurate. The shipping was fast also. I could not ask for more! Very happy with my purchase. 😀

About

Crazy about wool and historically interested

What does Porta patet mean?
Porta patet is Latin and literally means: the door stands open.
This is from the welcome inscription that you can find in many medieval monasteries:

Porta patet cor magis - The door stands open the heart even more

Many years ago I went to visit a medieval-style market for the first time.
Within a short time I knew: This is exactly my cup of tea.
After giving it some thought, I decided to go for the 6th century A. D.
But there's a catch in it: You can't buy clothings to match that time period. So I dug into old textile techniques.

Meanwhile I go to medieval-style events and museums to demonstrate and explain the making of tablet-woven bands and needlebound socks, hats and mittens or spinning with distaff and spindle.

Many of my products for reenactors have their origins in those demonstrations.

I got hooked to knitting and crocheting at a very early age and that did not change since then.
This is why I also create classical modern designs like hats, egg warmers or bracelets.

I create the patterns and designs myself and usually don't write them down. As every piece is handmade, all of my works are unique and one of a kind.

Most of my wool is from a Bioland farm in south Germany and grows on organically kept sheep (Certified Organic Animal Husbandry). The wool has no antifelting finishing, was not bleached and not carbonised.

Most of the chemically dyed wool was dyed following the strict rules of IVN (International Association of Natural Textile Industry). This excludes many questionable substances like azoic dyes or heavy metals.

I dye the naturally dyed wool myself and take care not to use poisonous substances. I also make sure to make best use of the liquor and keep the water consumption as low as possible.
