Jennifer L. Porter, the artist and designer of Porterness Studio, has worked for 20 year creating a dynamic body of work in photography, video art, embroidery and jewelry. For the last 9 years she's lived in Silver Lake where she enjoys the wide range of restaurants and a farmers market within walking distance of her home.

Educated as a fine artist in Chicago and Los Angeles Jen's work and been exhibited in the US and Europe. Her embroidery was included in Push Stichery published by Lark Books.

Jen's jewelry work started in 2007 with her attraction to mid century beads from Germany. As her interest in jewelry grew she began training as a metalsmith finding the lost wax casting process the path to her current work. Jen's jewelry designs are a balance of texture, shape, and comfort that renders a boundless object to be collected and displayed on the body.

Jen influences include Carl Jung's work on dreams and the archetypes, Cy Twombly, gold work embroidery, silent films, tea, history of photography, mid century design, and the musical work of Spencer Krug.
