All my pottery is hand-crafted stoneware and Raku; rather than simply shaping it on a potter's wheel, I meticulously assemble each piece. (You can see how this gives them a unique appearance, different from almost all the other pottery and ceramics here on Etsy.)
You will see how they are all infused with texture that creates a natural visual surface, demanding to be touched! Oxides and white slip are used to give the surface a soft, earthy color. As you will see on my dishes, layers of glazes and oxides add to the beauty of the rich colors. Using a combination of wheel-throwing and handbuilding, my pots are quite unique and beg, not only, to be admired but used.
My Raku pieces are lovely to look at and must be touched. Clear glazes will have dark crazing on the surface of the ware. The Raku firing method gives the unglazed clay a blackened surface and lusters of copper reds appear on the glazes areas. Every piece is unique and beautiful to the eye.
With the exception of my Raku, all my pieces are oven and dishwasher safe. I do not recommend using flat baking dishes in the microwave, but cups and bowls are OK. All my pieces, including my Raku, are LEAD FREE.
