POZIEPOEMS are decorative mobiles in the same tradition that the artist Alexander Calder started in the 1920’s.

Our mobiles have words spray-painted onto both sides of the wooden panels. The words are carefully chosen so the mobile creates moving poetry as it turns.

The idea for POZIEPOEMS is from a book I am working on. My wife loved the book but especially one of the ideas: a mobile with positive poetry. We both love poetry and have read and written it ever since our hormones set in. So with much excitement we worked on the prototypes of poems that change words as the panels of wood turn..

We love using positive words and have so much fun figuring out and writing the poems. We premiered the 1st POZIEPOEMS at the Union Square Holiday Market in NYC in 2008 during the height of the financial crisis and the response was overwhelming. It was a dark and dire time in New York. The city was in a real need of uplifting and our work bought hope and smiles to everyone who saw us.

Exciting things happen with compliments, encouragement and positivity. We moved production from our backporch and kitchen in Chinatown to a proper studio in Long Island City and two years ago with the unpredictable event of my wife falling pregnant on a holiday to my family in South Africa we moved our production to the corner of my dads factory in Knysna.

The wood is cut, drilled, sanded and then painted. We cut stencils and spraypaint the words onto each side of the wooden panels. One panel needs to be done at a time. Finally the panels are strung together.

POZIEPOEMS are original, colourful and very eye catching. They bring positivity and joy to wherever they hang. Our work is simple and sincere and that resonates with our customers who like us are also looking to make the world a better place.

People often describe POZIEPOEMS as the perfect gift as they are like cards with positive messages but it is something beautiful the recipient can look at every day.
