prairiewindtoys' Shop Announcement

Limberjack dancing dolls, hooey sticks and whirleygigs -- mostly we have made traditional folk toys. Oh man! I just figured out that Dad and I have been building and selling wood toys a total of 97 years! (Dad since 1953 and me since 1970.)

We make all of our toys by hand one at a time. Because of this they will all be slightly different from one to the next, but that's a nice things about an object that is made by hand. We use native American woods, also recycled "2nd-life" wood whenever we can. We especially like tulip poplar as it is the Indiana state tree. We also use walnut, cherry, chestnut, maple, pine, birch, oak.

Three years ago we added toy windmills, since we live in the middle of the biggest windmill field in the world. The newest addition to our toys is my Dancing Limberjack Chicken.

Over the years Dad has also built hundreds of lap or Appalacian and hammered dulcimers, and written a book on how to build them. It is now in its 27th printing!

I hope you will enjoy looking at the items in our little shop and maybe find something you have to have or the perfect gift for a grandchild or niece or nephew. Thank you for looking!
