I love everything about it: great fabric, perfect fit, beautiful condition, quick delivery. It even hand-washed fine, so I had the added bonus of not having to get it dry cleaned. Thanks!

Pretty in Prague …the Bohemian lifestyle

I live in the amazing city of Prague, though I hail from the deep south in the United States, where my shop base is: Birmingham, Alabama.
My first Etsy Store was opened in 2008 and was called Moxie Art Design, after my brick and mortar art gallery/boutique back in Birmingham. But my love of collecting vintage started a couple of decades before that when it was possible to find incredible vintage items in every thrift store in the county! Many of those treasures I still have in my collection and now my story has become part of those pieces' woven history as well.

Since my move to the city of a hundred spires and cobblestone streets, I have incorporated more and more pieces that intrigue me with their own unique Czech character.
I love visiting the numerous antiques markets and finding things I could never lay eyes on in my native city. And every excursion is different! One week is filled with costume jewelry and cuckoo clocks. Then another week, folk costumes or military badges- even medical grade glass eyeballs!

I invite you to find a beautiful piece with its own historical tapestry and then weave your own life, loves, heartaches and joys into the daily wearing. And thus the history continues...

Welcome to my policies page!
Buying and selling vintage is an adventure back in time. And althought the occasional "mint" piece passes through my hands, I am usually suspect of it's actual age. And if you look closely, you will usually see signs of the true age of the piece.
So here is my disclaimer for all you perfectionists out there:

Please note that many to most of my vintage items will have minor flaws and the authenticity will, in that case, make up for it. I try to photograph clearly any flaws and signs of wear and note it as well. Having said that, sometimes things slip by unnoticed. If you receive anything from me that you are not happy with, please let me know BEFORE LEAVING FEEDBACK--I want my customers to be happy with their purchases!

Here is how I inspect vintage:
A. When I purchase it.
B. When I clean or steam it.
C. When I edit photos.

My description of vintage condition:

Mint: flawless, like new, no signs of wear

Excellent to Mint: looks never worn, have found no flaws to note, but may have some loose seams or other tiny flaws unnoticed by me.

Excellent: completely wearable, sturdy, has one or two small flaws that are pointed out, loose seams, may have minute imperfections( tiny stains, tiny holes) that missed my human and camera eye. Please know that I NEVER deliberately omit mentioning flaws.

Very good: completely wearable, sturdy, may have a noticeable stain,tiny hole or two, but not detracting from the design. may also have loose seams.

Good: Wearable, but has obvious flaws that either can be repaired or ignored happily.

Fair: may need reinforcement before wearing or repairs of some kind--still possible to restore.

As Is: It means I don't know if it can be fully restored or not. May be useful as a costume piece or project.

Fair and AS IS items are only included in this store because I feel that the design or the fabric is too fabulous to throw away.
Very good and Good have usually been downgraded because I found flaws after purchasing.
I try to buy everything in excellent condition, but sometimes something is too lovely to pass up like a seafoam Edwardian gown:)

All Dresses should be cleaned before wearing as I sell them as received.
Please keep in mind, these are 50+ years old and may have been stored
for many decades, and as such might have storage odor.
Please note these are True Vintage dresses therefore they will have some normal wear, Fading from years of washing,
a random spot, loose threads/buttons/snaps/hook and eyes and seams, slight pilling, and so on.
As with all vintage clothes the origin of them are unknown. So I can not guarantee smoke or pet free.
*Also please note that I do use a small amount of moth balls in the rooms my clothing is stored in the US and in Czech republic--there may be a slight smell-some people are sensitive to this smell. Unfortunately, I find that lavender and ceder do not work well enough to keep moths at bay. They do not touch the fabrics and I only use them minimally.

Please do not expect a brand new item with no defects even if it is listed as "excellent condition."
I try to inspect all of them as well as I can, but I am human and might possibly miss something.
Therefore I encourage Questions.

I accept Paypal and direct checkout through Etsy with credit cards. If payment is not received within 24 hours and no contact has been made to assure timely payment, item will be returned to stock. You may still attempt to re-purchase the item.
Pretty in Prague ships packages Mon.-Fri. Please note that Sat., Sun. and holidays are not normal shipping days. Priority shipping from the Czech Republic to the US is estimated at 6-10 business days, but can take up to 30 days if the item is held up in customs--I will answer any of your concerns while waiting on a package through convos. Domestic shipping in the US ranges from 3-5 business days.

***SHIPPING COST includes insurance, packaging and handling costs***
I refund shipping when the difference between the ACTUAL cost and QUOTED cost is $2.00 or more.

Shipping options from the Czech Republic includes full insurance and form of shipping is based on the destination countries' rules.
[For example, Canada only allows insured items over 1200 czech crowns(approx. $63 usd) to be sent express mail and therefore is much higher than other countries which allow standard post.]
It is possible to make arrangements for a lower cost shipping with limited insurance and confirmation from the czech republic. However, in the event of a lost package through the mail, reimbursement will match insured amount (approx.$63 usd)NOT the actual cost of the item (ask before purchasing!)

Also packages shipped domestically from the US are shipped priority or standard post and fully insured by Shipsaver or USPS.

In the case of damage through shipping, here is what the site says:
What if I’m the recipient of a damaged international shipment?
"If you receive an article that was sent from abroad that is damaged or has some contents missing, take it to any Post Office™ right away. Be sure to bring the item, the mailing container, wrapping, packaging, and any other contents.
The Post Office will verify the damage and have you complete a claim form. Please do not reship the package."

Please take note: Items LOST IN THE MAIL--will be fully refunded after claims are made and approved by the mail service used. This can take up to 90 days.

PLEASE NOTE: that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds will be considered on a case by case basis.

On CONDITION of item: PLEASE READ WELCOME MESSAGE with description of vintage condition. I try to photograph and/or describe any visible or functional flaws, but if you are extremely picky about the condition of a vintage piece for example for collecting purposes, I suggest you convo me before purchasing the item you are considering with concerns and I will be happy to send more photos and answer any questions.
Also, please consider that vintage clothing and accessories are at least 20 years old! Pretty in Prague is not responsible for the durability of these items after received and worn!

On FIT of item: Please convo me with all questions concerning fit of item, measurements etc. BEFORE purchasing.

On LATE ARRIVAL; for example, something arrives too late for an event it was purchased for AND it was discussed beforehand and agreed by myself and buyer, item can be returned. Buyer assumes all shipping charges and is refunded amount of item. If item appears to have been worn or damaged refund will not be issued at all and buyer will have to pay shipping again to have it returned if that is their wish.

If I make an offer to cancel a transaction before it is shipped, and said cancellation is not responded to within two days, the transaction will continue, regardless of shipment date.

If an item is lost or damaged through shipping, please contact me first. I will initiate an investigation with the postal service where the item was shipped from.
Also, if the outside of the package appears damaged or exposed to moisture, it is best to examine contents in the presence of a postal worker. Damages must be photo documented in front of the postal worker--including packaging and item!

Please take note: shipped items that are lost in the mail MUST GO THROUGH the postal service's reclamation system before it is concluded it is truly lost. Refunds will be made after that is determined. But rest assured, if the post office loses it, you will receive a full refund because I always ship insured.

ALSO**If a sold transaction is cancelled because of lack of payment of shipping costs or any agreed amounts and if the buyer does not respond to repeated messages, the cancelled transaction will include a refund to the buyer minus 20% (max.$20) restocking fee.
