I never wanted to get behind the camera. I had suffered (ahem, mostly slept) through a tough photography class my freshman year of college and believed it to be too technical for me and not "artsy" enough to pursue.

But in 2013 I finally picked up a Nikon digital SLR camera to better photograph the items for my old shop (Deeds & Petunia, here on Etsy), and in the process decided to learn to take better photos of my family. As my technical skills developed, my world exploded creatively. I realized photography could be a powerful and expressive artistic medium and now I can't put my camera down. Photography and digital manipulation have stretched me mentally, spiritually and artistically well beyond my subconsciously self-imposed limitations and I've found it to be the most gratifying artistic medium I've experienced yet.

Now I'm pursuing a career as a visual artist focusing on fine art and environmental portraiture. My formal work can be seen at sarahbsmithart.com.

I decided to open this shop for my more fun, casual and affordable work, focusing on macros, nature (flowers, mushrooms, forests) and landscapes. Take a look around. I hope you enjoy what you see.
