I never knew I'd love sewing so much.

When I was given a handmade dress for my 2-year-old daughter a number of years ago, I was immediately taken with how cute and unique it was--and with the idea that I could make an outfit for her myself. I had basic sewing knowledge, a very simple sewing machine I hadn't touched in several years, a bit of creativity, and just the right amount of confidence. So I found a pattern I thought I could muddle my way through and bought some fabric. Turns out that the whole process of making a dress was so satisfying that I made another one that same week. I made her wear those two dresses all summer because I loved seeing her wear them and I liked them so much.

I didn't stop with those two dresses! Sewing gave me energy when the happy chaos of being home with three toddlers wore me out. With some encouragement from friends I set up a shop on Etsy and never looked back. Now my kids are 12, 10, and 9. They won't wear what I make any more, but my 3-yr-old nephew makes up for it. Last year I added applique shirts to my Etsy shop, and making shirts keeps me busy for sure! I teach preschool and love those happy bundles of energy!

We live out in the country, and I'm an avid vegetable gardener and chicken keeper. I try to shop local and buy handmade items whenever it's feasible to support others like myself who have a gift and want to share it with others.

I am a busy mom to three active kids. I also teach preschool, so I make clothes and applique shirts with all of my kids in mind. Easy wear, easy care!

I've seen shops where people say, "I made this with all the care I'd make for my own kids" and it makes me laugh. My kids are the guinea pigs for the things I make. I learn on their clothes! So the clothes I sell are made with a whole lot MORE care than what I make for my family!

Returns and exchange details
I want your kids to be able to wear what you buy for them. I put extra care into items I make, but if you aren't satisfied with your purchase or it doesn't fit please, please, please let me know so I can fix it! I will gladly exchange for another size or make necessary alterations.

Returned items must be unwashed and in new condition. If a return or exchange is needed, the buyer pays for return shipping. I will pay to ship the replacement item.

I can't accept returns on personalized shirts unless I made a mistake on the order. (It hasn't happened yet, but hey, I'm human.)
If I'm creating a custom order for you, I'll figure a price based on our conversation. Full payment is due before I purchase any materials or begin making custom items.
I offer free shipping on most items via First Class Mail. I'm happy to ship Priority Mail, Priority Express, or UPS ground for an additional cost. I always provide a tracking number and make sure I get orders in the mail in time to meet any must-have dates based on estimated arrival dates set by the postal service.

I can't guarantee what happens when the post office takes over. I am not responsible if an order is lost or delayed by the post office. Nor am I responsible for mistakes in shipping addresses. I ship to the address provided by the buyer. Please be sure it is correct!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I gladly accept custom requests for dresses, costumes, and shirts if I am not swamped. I'll figure a price based on our conversation and create a custom listing, if necessary. I don't buy any shirts or materials until the order has been paid for.

Personalized shirts cost more than shirts without names. Most of my shirt listings have a personalization option built in with the price increase. If it doesn't, send me a convo so I can adjust the price.

Care instructions

I try not to make anything I can't throw in the washer and dryer. Many people hand wash and air dry applique shirts. I don't. I do too much laundry to be fussy about my kids' clothes!

However, I do suggest you wash shirts in cold water without fabric softener. And dry on low without dryer sheets. The stabilizer on the back of the design softens considerably with washing, though the applique may look rumpled. Iron it with a damp press cloth over the design to make it look new again. The protective backing can be ironed on again if it starts to come off.

Do you prewash shirts and fabric?

I prewash all cotton fabric I use for dresses. I use fragrance- and dye-free detergent and dry on high heat. Theoretically all shrinking and color bleeding happens in that first wash cycle!

I do not prewash shirts.
