About

Lifetime movie, anyone?

I became a professional ceramic artist after getting a Masters in Modern Languages, getting married, and then having my ex-husband leave me for my ex-best-friend nine months later. That was 2010. By 2014, I'd also survived a shooting and another abusive relationship, a proper amount of PTSD, and was keeping my head up when a friend opened a restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. Sam asked me to make the kitty themed bowls for Krunkwich Ramen House, I said yes, decided to run with it, and Print & Clay was born. All the work is slipcast for quicker and more time/cost effective production, then hand printed by me, glazed, and fired. TV, movies, and books have always been my escape, and humor my coping mechanism, so it's a pretty perfect fit.

Howdy ho neighbor/neighborette! Thank you for taking the time to look around my shop. Print & Clay is my slipcast ceramic pop-culture ware store- designed and manufactured to be fun and fun for your wallet! Everything is lead-free and food safe unless marked otherwise. It is also dishwasher-safe. If you have any questions regarding my process or the finished pieces, feel free to contact me via Etsy, or through email (printandclay@gmail.com). You can also check out my website at www.amandambarr.com, where I post semi-frequently about what's going on in my studio!

A microwave-safe disclaimer: My work is fine for re-heating water-based items and drinks. But, really, all pottery will weaken over time with prolonged microwave-use, eventually leading to cracking. So for the sake of keeping your pottery for many years, avoid the microwave. Same goes for dishwashers- they are safe, but your pieces will last much longer with handwashing.

Custom orders are welcome, within reason and current capabilities.

As always, remember, Rule #1. Cardio. Rule #2. Doubletap.

Shipping
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH YOUR SHIPPING COSTS?

*At the beginning of 2016 shipping rates went up. A lot. So if prices seem steeper than usual, it's everywhere. Economies and global gas prices and things I don't understand all that well because I studied linguistics.*

POTTERY IS FRAGILE AND HEAVY, YO!

It's called shipping AND HANDLING. Boxes, tape, econo-sized rolls of bubble wrap! YOU DO SAVE MONEY WHEN YOU BUY MORE THAN ONE ITEM. I give Etsy the "when shipping with second item" total, but who KNOWS how that's going to turn out. If the difference is staggering, I'll refund it. Don't freak out- I don't know exactly how much something costs to ship until it's boxed, taped and weighed.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE AN ITEM?
Ready made items will head out in 3-5 business days. I try to save gas and combine trips so I try to wait for a couple of items to head out before making the trip out. I ship USPS Priority Mail- Canada ship time is around 2.5 weeks, everywhere else is inexact and... yeah. Sorry. I just ship them.

When your item ships, Etsy will send a message with any tracking info available. I will not contact you other than that email--but I do want to let you know I appreciate your purchase!

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
International Shipping is a bit tricky because the only affordable option for heavier items like mine is First Class International Mail--which does not provide a tracking number to some countries--so if you are an International customer you will need to be a bit patient. On average it takes about 21 business days to arrive but at busy times it can be much longer. I can provide proof of shipment but not a tracking number for some countries. Please let your local postal carrier know you are expecting a package. In our experience the majority of packages are not received because they went unclaimed at customs.

International customers are responsible for their country's taxes, tarriffs and customs fees (VAT). Please do not ask me to mark a purchase as a gift in order to avoid paying customs fees. I like watching Orange is the New Black, not living it.

International Customers: please note that there have been several changes in shipping procedures in many countries lately--SPECIFICALLY: many countries now require that we include a duplicate invoice along with a customs form on the outside of any package. There is no way around this, and if we do not do this you may not receive your parcel. Please do not request me to leave the contents of the box a secret at checkout-I cannot do this.

PROBLEM WITH MY ADDRESS
Customers who enter an incorrect address at checkout will be responsible for all costs associated with re-shipment. So sorry! If you have a problem with an order that needs immediate attention please convo or email me at printandclay (@) gmail.com with the subject line WRONG ADDRESS in caps.

SENDING IT AS A GIFT
Would you like to ship this to someone as a gift? No problem! Etsy will provide a field where you can enter the shipping address you would like the package to go to. Just make sure to leave me a message at the same time saying what you would like a gift message to read. I do not gift wrap- I bubble wrap. I will be happy to include your message though!

I do not include invoices inside your package - and the trees thank you for that. Your receipt is always available under "purchases" in your shop. I do include basic care instructions for your pottery with every shipment.
