5 out of 5 starsNice quality paper, no issues with bleeding or show-through using a felt-tip pen. Arrived in good time. Really lovely pattern that was very well-received by the recipient.

Handmade Cards
A trove of creatures, colours and folk tales, on paper, cotton and wood.
Prism of Starlings is a stationery brand which was established in 2011 by artist Kirsty Jane Baynham, after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a 1st Class degree in Illustration.
The brand is stylistically defined by a combination of two main elements – ‘prism’, which represents geometry, symmetry and the patternmaking process, and ‘starlings’, representing the strong animal theme to my designs and their importance to me both as an artist and as an individual.
Favouring the personal quality of making and creating by hand, my studio workshop is filled with drawing and painting media, colourful papers, tools, instruments and machinery all involved in the artisanal process of creating affordable pieces of art translated onto paper goods and small products.
My favourite things to illustrate are foxes, peacocks, deer and hares, woodland forests and starry skies. Since I was a young child, I enjoyed the tactile and poetic process of crafting things from paper, like little houses, sailboats and books. My artwork is created for adults, but there is an element of nostalgia in creating something that has a cross-generational appeal.
Prism of Starlings is aimed at the socially conscious, animal-loving shopper who wishes to purchase something unique, with a story, which has been created with a certain amount of passion and patience. I’d like to think there’s an inherently mutual bond between those of us who take pleasure in glimpsing an urban fox, petting a stranger’s dog or feeding the birds in our garden.
I am grateful for this time period, where environmental consciousness is no longer a luxury but an affordable and attainable reality. Recycled, compostable and recyclable materials are readily available to me, and I take full advantage of this, with the majority of the papers I source having 100% recycled content. Online orders are wrapped in recycled tissue, and shipped in cardboard packaging sealed with paper tape, all of which can be fully recycled (or reused).
