The Promised Land Sheep Company

Starting in 2007, my father and I began raising Icelandic sheep. We started with a few little ewes and a ram. After our first shearing I realized I could not bear to see all that wool thrown away....and so began my journey with the sheep. Along the way, my father retired from raising sheep and I turned to a fine wool dual purpose breed of sheep....the Rambouillet. I found my niche. In the beginning, I was sending the fleeces to one mill or the next and not feeling very satisfied with the product I was getting back. I discovered combed wool and started a new chapter. I found a mill that machine combs my fleeces into beautiful buttery wool top. Coming soon will be colored fleeces that will be processed into wonderful wool top by Zeilinger Wool Company.

Today. Our flock foundation breeding is still Rambouillet but we have upgraded with colored Romedale, Wensleydale and Targhee breeding. The breeding experiments have been fun and exciting. The fleeces are getting longer, finer and sweeter every year. I will be a pleasure to be able to offer more varieties of fiber for you spinning, felting, dying pleasure!

Hugs,
Leah
