Announcement   AS SEEN IN MARTHA STEWART WEDDINGS WINTER 2013 ISSUE!

Custom hand cut silhouette cameos perfect for kids wall art or grandmother gifts and lovely keepsakes. I hand cut all of my silhouettes. I don’t trace an outline of a photograph or a shadow on a wall. I don't use clip art or fake it with photoshop. I use my scissors to cut with hand eye coordination. I focus on proportion & structure, then find details to enhance what needs to be pulled and stated, much like a painted portrait. All of my products feature my own artwork.

Patti worked from a larger, non-professional silhouette of my son that was done when he was in Kindergarten. I asked her to make one that would complement my daughter's that was professionally done years ago. Not only was it a great likeness of my son, but when I received it I noted it looks exactly like like his son who is about that same age now!

I ordered a bride/groom (with their dog) silhouette for my daughter's and son-in-law's first wedding anniversary gift. The likenesses are spot on! I can't wait to see them open this gift. Patti was wonderful to work with. She was sure my item arrived in time.

About

I always have a brush, pencil, or scissors in hand.

I've drawn, painted and worked with paper all my life. As a 4th generation artist, I don't remember ever not knowing I would be an artist when I grew up. I painted portraits beginning in high school. I illustrated educational books for publishers and drew letters/names for local children's boutiques. Then one day I tried cutting silhouettes and got hooked immediately. I began my Etsy shop when people kept asking if I could do silhouettes by email/photo for long distance grandkids etc. So I set up a listing with description and photo tips. Then I made myself a glass dome necklace with my children's silhouettes to wear to boutique events. Mothers began to ask me to make one for them of their children's silhouettes. I made myself porcelain ornaments with my children's silhouettes to hang on our tree. Mothers visiting my home studio wanted their own done as well. I made a pillow for my sofa, again, featuring their charming black cameos in center. Mothers asked, "How much?" Apparently, I am not the only mother who is sentimental about displaying images of her children on as many items as possible.

As for the watercolor names/letters, I did countless names beginning about 20 years ago and finally began to scan in my painted letters/designs so that I could have my own library of girls and boys letters, available to print and embellish for more names but using less time and, therefore, saving on cost for the customer.

So with the years of painting, illustrating and visiting boutiques for hand cutting, I am able to offer a nice variety of items for the other sentimental mothers out there. Long live tradition!

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to browse through my shop! I have been a portrait artist for many years before stumbling into hand cut silhouettes. I have fallen in love with this rare art and although I still pursue painting and illustrating, silhouettes have taken on a life of their own!

For a hand cut custom silhouette, please email me photographs of the subject's profile. See this link for tips on just the right photo for best results: www.HeartPaperScissors.com/silhouettes/email

Once I have adequate photos, they are filed in my line of production in order of receipt. If you are able to purchase your own order, you are moved to the top of the list! I enlarge photographs on my screen and hand cut as though they were right in front of me. Then I email or convo you back with images to view. Upon approval, I will send you an invoice (unless you already purchased in my shop), and deliver them to the address associated with your payment unless you instruct otherwise. (Be sure to tell me if you want a name written below the silhouette. Type it out as you'd like it to appear and I will do so in an elegant script.)

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
  • Other Method
Payment
I will accept PAYPAL or major credit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, DISCOVER), money order, or even a personal check - but I will have to make sure the check clears before delivering your order.
Shipping
The shipping cost is to cover the amount I pay in both shipping materials and fees. I ship regular US mail or Priority Mail once a week usually but I'll make the extra trip when meeting a deadline for you.
Refunds and Exchanges
If it ever becomes necessary to make a return for a general item for some reason, I'll do it.

Personalized items cannot be returned but I always email a proof to get customer's approval. If you need to cancel an order for some reason, as long as I haven't shipped it, that is possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
The items I create or print from my art are all handmade. Therefore, there may be slight differences if you compare one to another. These slight variations add to the charm of the pieces and therefore are not necessarily categorized as defective.
