    ***BUYER BEWARE***
This is an “if it breaks it’s yours” shop even if it breaks in shipping. You don’t have to believe me and the seller will probably give a rebuttal but it’s the truth. There is a skimpy 4 day return window and items may be pictured to hide defects (mine was: frayed string-smell-spots-weak joints and wear). The necklace i ordered arrived broken but there must be transparent proof (refusing broken shipment at delivery but item was left in my mailbox ). Etsy said they would help multiple times saying this would be handled but in the end did nothing. Repairs were made that took the original clasp off and even changed the color from gold to silver and this was allowed. A partial refund was offered but then denied. My case was permanently closed when she shipped. I’m left with a $700 necklace i hate.

A person who abruptly returns a necklace with no reason, wants to rush a refund asap, only for me find a returned shipment with a broken necklace in it (when you were not forth coming about any break until I asked you WHY it was broken). The box showed no sign of damage from shipping, the break was from a person tugging or pulling on the wrong parts of the necklace to get the clasp open, (soldered wrings were torn). Not to mention a month of a case being open where to feel fit to verbally bash me. Necklace was a one of a kind pear necklace in amazing condition (pictures don't lie Ann). I can understand why Etsy sided with me, SELLERS BEWARE.

Erstwhile Folk

Started my business in San Francisco, California. I was putting myself through college and working at an antique store part time. This is whereI fell in love with lost artisans and proper craftsmanship. I learned to love something that could stand the test of time. So I started my own business in 2009. I have been running this joy of a shop for almost 10 years now! Thank you for stopping by and supporting my love for the long lost artisans.

Erstwhile Folk thrives on being an honest company. Any flaws, highlights, or quirks of an object will be noted in the description and photographed with great care.

Photography is key. All the fine details and textures of an object will ALWAYS be highlighted in my photos. We always shoot with natural light (which is the best lighting for photography). If you desire additional images or images larger than those displayed in the shop, please ask.

Erstwhile Folk guarantees authenticity and 100% satisfaction on all purchases. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase you may return any piece for a full refund. Returns must be made 4 days after delivery. Please contact me as soon as possible, in the event that you need to arrange a return. All returned jewelry must be received in the same condition it was in when it was sent to you. Jewelry will not be accepted for return if it has been damaged or altered.

Buyers are responsible for the cost of return shipping and for shipping insurance.

I have the right to not allow or to issue partial refunds for any reason. Custom and customized items, discounted items, and items purchased via layaway are not returnable.

At this time international sales are final.

I offer layaway on any and all pieces. Depending on your personal budget and the price of the piece I can offer up to 90 days for full payment. Please contact me with any questions or inquires . . . I really love working with layaway clients and am more than happy to accommodate you and work within your means!

Re-sizing, restoration, and customization:

Erstwhile Folk is happy to provide at-cost re-sizing for gold and silver rings, when and if re-sizing is possible. Sometimes resizing is not possible due to the design of jewelry and sometimes age. Please feel free to message me if inquiring about custom fits and resizing.

An other customization ideas you may have I'm more than happy to discuss on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me with your questions or ideas.

When an appraisal comes with your purchase it will always be an independent GIA certified document. GIA is a more modest assessment than the EGL and other appraisers.
I equip each shipment with insurance, tracking, and fragile handling. Tracking on international packages is not available. Everything ships out in 3 to 5 business days.

If you require expedited shipping, I am more than happy to arrange this service at-cost. Please contact me for a quote before making your purchase.
