Swimming in Beads...

I am a 2003 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served in the Marine Corps from 2003 until 2009. Now this probably doesn’t sound like the precursor to an artist’s life, but I learned a valuable lesson – do what you love because you never know how long you can do anything at all. My permanent home is in Sanford, North Carolina.

I am a self-taught jewelry artist. I tend to learn better through books than through listening to someone tell me how, although I can say both the engineering background and the fact that my aunt was a trained silversmith in college have helped tremendously. In recent years, I have taken a few one-day technique classes at Ornamentea (a jewelry-making and fine-crafting store) in Raleigh, NC and a fall term class at the Arlington center for the Arts in Arlington, MA. From 2011 - 2012, I taught beginning wirework classes at BD Unique, the closest bead and jewelry store to my home in Sanford.

Purplefuzzyfeet is my second store here on etsy (my other store is: http://www.shoredebris.etsy.com). In 2009, when I decided to switch careers I jumped in head first. I bought more beads and supplies wholesale than any sane person could use in 10 years. I originally opened this shop to sell those surplus supplies (which I still continue to do). I also list jewelry here that doesn't match the "beach" theme of my Shore Debris shop.

One of the most recent additions to this etsy shop are my crocheted items. A dear friend of mine taught me to crochet and I have been hooked ever since. I have been selling many crocheted baby items in her shop in Sanford, NC [Divine Designs by Nancy, 92 Amarillo Ln, Sanford, NC] and last year decided to expand to the internet. In between the projects I create for myself or presents, I make a few cute baby items for sale.

Hi, I'm Vicky. I'm a former Marine who has turned full-time jewelry designer. I love all sorts of crafts and small construction projects and never have less than 10 projects going simultaneously - much to my husband's dismay...

Hi! I'm Libby. I'm always underfoot and just turned 10 years old on January 1! I make sure Vicky takes regular breaks to walk and pet me throughout the day.
