The current most asked questions are: Are the hats/wraps handmade and how long does it take to make them? Yes they are handmade with various crochet hooks and needles. The time it takes to make a snug fitting beanie hat with a basic stitch is 1.5 hours. It can take 8 hours or more for the mega long beanie. On average a brimmed hat takes 5 hours to start, finish and label. I secure all edges with glue instead of just hiding them to ensure they stay hidden. Finishing takes about 15 minutes for a 1-2 color hat, more time if more color changes are used.

Prices are determined by the yarn type that is used and complexity of the design. Choices for yarn type include bamboo, nylon, silk, cotton, linen and wool with acrylic being the default unless otherwise noted. Not all colors are available in all yarn types and each type has different care instruction. Other factors affecting price includes special parts that need to be ordered, how dense the stitching is, how complicated the pattern is and how much time it takes to make it from start to finish.

Handmade crochet hats/wraps are great for people on the go. They are easy to care for and will last for years even with regular wash and wear. Feel free to wash the rim areas with soap and water as often as needed. The hats/wraps are made of fade-free premium, durable acrylic yarns that will keep your head covered but breathable. Purple Party Designs started in 2007 when I began designing custom clothing for private clients. Now it has morphed into this little online shop where i am offering various types of fashion and fashion accessories including crocheted hats, pins, earrings, scarves, etc.

All the items listed were designed and made exclusively for the Purple Party Designs label from 2007- current.

Welcome to the Shop Policies Section of the Purple Party Designs Etsy Store. Here you will find information about payment, shipping, refunds and FAQ's.

Accepted payment methods

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
You will receive store credit for returns that are new (never worn or used) or a refund given a valid reason beyond our control. No returns/refunds for sizing issues, please read the item description carefully and take measurements of yourself truthfully and compare them to the size chart before ordering. If you are concerned about sizing we gladly offer custom options depending on item type upon request before you place your order.
Payment
We accept most major credit cards such as American Express, Discover, echeck, mastercard and Visa through paypal and square by email.

Buyers are responsible for paying a 3% fee for canceled orders. This means if you place an order and then cancel the transaction you will have to pay a 3% refund charge. If you want to avoid this, contact my email so I can send you an invoice for a square payment instead of the standard Etsy PayPal payment.

Payment for custom orders is due in full at the time of order placement, unless otherwise discussed or noted in the item description. If you don't have a credit card but you have a checking bank account you can use paypal to pay as well. We accept money orders, please make them payable to Purple Party Designs. Bartering of goods and services is available by special request.
Shipping
Domestic Shipping and Insurance

We ship USPS priority mail and our basic 1 item basic shipping fee is $6. The price will go up depending on weight and expected day of delivery. Item will ship within 1-2 business days on average after payment has cleared through paypal. For basic insurance on items below $80 expect to pay $2-$8 more then the total price.

International Shipping

We use USPS International for shipping internationally. Import duties/taxes and other charges are not included in the price so please check with you local customs offices for exact amounts. Email me before placing your international order if you would like add on insurance. International shipping orders have a $3 packing and handling fee to include the filing of customs forms. Do you ship Internationally?

Yes we do. Please find out the custom charges and taxes you have to pay before placing an order. It is your responsibility to find out what they are and email me before you order so that I can send you a bill customized for our order.

How often do you update your Etsy Listings?

My current sale is for Holiday 2013 and it starts in Early December. During December 4-10 I will be adding many items that are priced to move. I don't plan to add any more listings until the release my new fashion collection. If something has sold and you would like an item just like it, email me at purplepartydesigns [!at] gmail.com. The fastest way to find out what I'm doing is to friend me on facebook.

What are your business hours?

My typical business hours where I check my email and messages are Monday through Saturday 9AM-5PM. If you only have Weekend nights free and/or need to make a request after 5PM then email me during regular business hours and I can check my schedule availability.

Why don't you agree to sew any item?

I am able to sew and create many types of garments but that does not mean that anything you imagine I can make! Sometimes I can have a consultation with you and rework your ideas so that I can make it and other times the materials you want to use either won't do what you want them to do or are not available. There are certain items I do not have either the experience or machinery to handle such as upholstery projects, leather and certain fancy bridal gowns. I don't feel comfortable doing something unless I know I can give you what you want in a high quality manner.

Why can't I make an appointment anytime?

Unfortunately, there is only one me. There is also only so many hours in a day. I have other people who occasionally help me with errands and paperwork but most of them do not have the specific design knowledge I have to answer your questions and fufill your requests. I give each order I receive alot of attention and do not overbook my schedule so that I can do the best job possible. Some jobs just can't be rushed and come out great. I know when you take your garment home you will be a walking, talking advertisement so I want you to be thrilled with what you get.

Where can I buy Purple Party Design Items locally?

I do not currently retail out of a store at the moment. I participate in events around Sacramento, Stockton, Davis and the Bay Area, so please become my friend on facebook so you can read where I will be next. Other then that, feel free to order what you see on the webpage and it will conveniently be shipped to your door.

Do you barter?

Yes I will consider bartering if you are offering a service or product that I need at the moment. Send me an email describing what you have in mind.

Do you offer any other services other than Custom Clothing?

Yes. When my schedule permits I do on-site and off-site photo shoots but note I am not a full-time photographer so I don't have all the bells and whistles they have. I have a professional DSLR camera and a basic indoor lighting set-up and some other basic props. After the shoot I do photo-retouching on selected photos. I will create promotional material for your products and services such as business cards, flyers and brochures and simple webpages. I can also help you with fashion product development for your line. And lastly, I give private or group sewing lessons from beginner to advanced.

How often are you near the phone?

I check my phone at least once a day. If I have a rush order than my full attention will be on finishing that order and I won't be checking my phone as often but rest assured your order is being completed!. If I think something about what you ordered is off for instance, if you write your inseam is 52", I'll call you as soon as I notice because all the details need to be right before I can begin. If you have a detailed message, email me and then call me to read your email, so when I respond to you I can address all your issues (and see pictures if you have them) at once. Please don't take it personal if it takes me longer then a day to return your call or email.

Why is custom clothing more expensive then Ready-to-Wear clothing?

Custom clothing is made from patterns based on your exact body measurements from start to finish. You get to choose the buttons, the fabric, the lining and all the details that make your custom garment one-of-a-kind. You will get to add special features that will enhance the fit and wear for your particular body shape that you don't usually find in typical RTW clothing. Your specifications will be on file should you want something else made, so your future orders can be customized to fit your exact body shape. You can also add special features based on your needs like pit shields, elastic waists, selective boning and padding of certain areas of your garment, unique buttons and trim that you choose.

When you buy Ready to Wear you are stuck with what you can find, both in fit and fabric and may be limited to how big or small you can make it. Also the materials and construction techniques used in some RTW clothing often is not high quality and won't wear well after a few washes.

What if I want to buy some Purple Party Designs TODAY?

***This option is only available if you live within a 60 mile radius of Sacramento and on selective days the Bay area (email me to find out when)****

If schedule and circumstances permits and you know exactly what you want, saw it was available online and live within the above radius we can arrange for your purchase to be driven to you for a $20 fee + gas(varies) which must be paid through paypal before delivery. Upon arrival payment for the complete purchase is due in full by credit, cash or money order. You can also pay by credit card using our mobile terminal when we arrive before merchandise is given to you.
