Creating opportunities out of challenges

I stumbled into hand-lettering in 2015 and immediately fell in love with this art form. Shortly after, I began lettering on mugs to sell as a fundraiser for my daughter's band expenses. As the demand grew, especially when I started lettering my Spanglish quotes, I transitioned from drawing on each individual mug by hand to digitizing my artwork and having them professionally printed.

Fast forward to 2020, as I tried purging digital files on the iPad and paper sketches during quarantine (thanks for the inspo, Marie Kondo) , I realized I had enough inventory to sell my artwork in digital format on Etsy. After all, coffee mugs are not exactly essential, but I figured that selling SVG files of my work would give other makers the tools to create handmade items for them to sell during quarantine. Many of us have been furloughed and many more have lost jobs in recent months and I love that Etsy is giving me the platform to collaborate with other makers as we grow artistically while generating new streams of income.

Good things always come out challenging times.
