About

My creativity unleashed.

My name is Kerry and I was born in Sydney, Australia. I have been making useful things since childhood. I grew up in a creative family surrounded by people making clothes, cloth, nets, even houses. I started with knitting and crochet and learned to sew. At first I made dolls clothes then started to sew for myself by hand.

I trained in Custom Dressmaking at TAFE in the 1980s. I love to make playful costumes and wedding dresses in particular. When I moved to the Blue Mountains in 1999 I wanted to design and sell my own range of clothes and accessories. I recently achieved that goal.

I have always been drawn to colours. In 2006 I completed Certificate IV in Design at the International School of Colour and Design, in Sydney. My creativity was released and I haven't stopped designing and making ever since. In many ways my creative outpouring helped me get through a difficult time while I was caring for my late husband, David. Art and craft can be very therapeutic. I have tried many media and polymer clay is one of the most satisfying things I do. I still love fabrics and yarns. A while ago I started spinning yarn with a drop spindle. Then I made my own spindle with polymer clay and a large wooden knitting needle. I believe that anyone can create.

When it comes to making my products I often start with the raw materials and start putting them together. Once a design begins to emerge I can spend days working on finding the right balance of elements. I come back and look at it again with a fresh eye until that Ah-ha! moment when I see how it should look.

Opening a shop has been a long held dream. Quirky Bits expresses my love of colour, shape, texture and patterns. The tactile quality of polymer clay is another aspect I urge everyone to enjoy. So come and share the pleasure of having your own unique piece to brighten your wardrobe. A little work of art to wear.

Welcome to Querky Bits. My products are about fun and colour. Enhance your wardrobe with all kinds of accessories. Or find that fun gift for someone in your life. I aim to provide quality products. If I think an item is more delicate I will mention it in the product description.

I have included a scale comparison photograph in the 'About' section so buyers can get a better idea of the scale of the props used in photographs. If you are still uncertain let me know and I will attempt to send another image with more scale indicators.

Shipping
I have recently upgraded my shipping profiles to include Europe, North America, China and Japan. Shipping charges include the cost of packaging and postage. Postage prices may vary from one item to the next because of weight, volume, or packing requirements, for example, fragility.

The prices quoted are by air. Cheaper delivery is available to North America and Europe by sea but that option can take up to 12 weeks for delivery.

I will attempt to post at the cheapest rate unless fast delivery is requested.
If you require faster shipping please contact me directly for a quote.

I am not responsible for delays due to customs holdups or industrial action in the destination country. I am not responsible for the payment of customs charges that may apply in the destination country.

Please note that orders weighing 500 grams or more will require additional shipping charges. If in doubt, ask me for a quote.
Refunds and Exchanges
If the items you purchase do not meet your expectations please contact me directly within 14 days of receiving the goods to discuss the issues with me. If the goods were damaged in transit contact me to make any arrangements for the return of goods and any refunds or replacements that may apply.

European Union countries have the right to return goods under Consumer Protection Laws which apply to that Zone.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom made designs are available. If you are looking for a pendant with a particular support I can offer customisation with a selection of chains or cords. Chains are available in silver and gold colours. I also have velvet cords, fine cords, ribbons, chokers and sewn silk fabric. My personal favourite is black polyester cord for its comfort, strength and durability.

If your polymer clay item becomes dull buff it lightly with clear wax such as a clear shoe polish. Repair scratches by gently sanding with wet 800 grit sand paper or higher. Finish with wax.

Dry cleaning and clothes dryers are not recommended for polymer clay because both use heat which is damaging to polymer.
