Quilting is a form of Usable Art; finished it should be used, loved and bring comfort.

I believe that a handmade piece belongs in every nursery! I love creating quilts for babies and young children and hope they will grow to treasure their handmade blankets. I started making quilts in 1997 -My family all sleep under Mom's quilts, makes me happy to think about that!.

One of the best things about quilting is the social connection quilters have with one another. We share a lot. We share ideas, skills, time and even fabric. We band together to finish projects for one another. A lot has changed in the quilting world over time and a lot has stayed the same! I am a long time member of a great quilting guild filled with such talented quilters! And also I meet weekly for an old fashion quilting bee with 3 wonderful friends, where ideas are shared and problems are solved while we stitch on our own projects and sometimes each others!

I take a while to make my quilts. I first design them on the computer and then spend hours choosing just the right fabrics. The planning is my joy. I then sit and sew- pick more fabrics and sew some more. My quilts are generally filled with many fabrics- I love scrappy quilts. The quilting of the top, batting and backing take place on my frame using my Juki. The final step is sewing the binding. I hand sew the binding to the back of the quilt and reflect on the patterns and fabric as I stitch.

I also have totes and bags in my shop. I started with just a few kids totes, based on a little tote I made for a good friends first granddaughter- it was a huge success! I Have since added more bags and totes, as I have had requests for different sizes and styles. I am enjoying this new outlet for creativity. My customers continue to challenge me and expand my work through their requests and their own input; and I thank them.

Thank you for stopping by Quilt Country. Be sure to ask if there is something you would like made especially for you, we can create your one of a kind item together.
