Each of our quilts, we believe, has a home that they were made to go to. Some quilts will go to a home that has been blessed with a new baby, and that quilt will keep that little one warm. Another might go to a child, who will use it to build a fort with his or her friends. Maybe a teenager will use one of our quilts, to snuggle under after their first lost love. Still yet, there are quilts that will go off to school with the college student, who for the first time, realizes they are on their own, and need something to remind them of home. Perhaps, one of our quilts was created for that couple who is just starting out together. Or maybe, it will make the perfect, heartfelt gift for someone who just needs a quilt to surround them in warmth and love while they go through an unbearable time. Whatever the circumstances, our hope is that when you receive one of our quilts, you know it was made with love, and your quilt is right where it was made to be – with you.

Why we quilt: We quilt for the love of quilting. We do not mass produce our quilts. Once a quilt is created, we do not re-create that exact quilt, unless it is a custom order. Each quilt is given special attention, so that the person receiving the quilt will know it was created with love. We create quilts that can be handed down from generation to generation. When a person receives a quilt that has been passed down to them through their family, that person is not just receiving a quilt, that person is receiving the memories and love from each person who had the quilt before them. That is what quilting is all about.

We are currently creating doggie crate quilts for Paws on Parole. A portion of our sales goes to the purchasing of fabrics and batting to create a doggie crate quilt for a shelter dog. They are given the quilt when they enter Paws on Parole, and then take the quilt with them to their forever home. Please check them out at: www.pawsonparole.com

As you go about enjoying your Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember the soldiers who have given their lives for our freedom. Remember too, the families of those soldiers whose lives were forever changed. Thank you

We just added the first set of Norwegian Wood burp cloths!! As always, thank you for stopping by our shop.

How our quilts are created

Great time is spent on picking out which fabrics will be used in our quilts. We use only high quality cotton, designer fabric. Our fabrics are purchased from our local quilt shop, reputable well known online fabric stores and Etsy shops. The cotton batting used is warm and natural or warm and white depending on the needs of the quilt.

A quilt pattern is decided on, whether it is a whole cloth (made from one piece of fabric with no cutting or piecing involved) or pieced pattern, to highlight the fabric. The fabric is then cut, pieced together and pressed. The quilting stitch design is chosen to embellish the pattern and fabric. The backing fabric, batting and quilt top are loaded onto the quilting frame. Depending on the quilting design chosen, we will either free-motion the pattern or use pantographs. Our quilting machine is a professional machine, so the stitches are tight and enables the quilt to hold up to multiple washes and use throughout the years.

After the quilting process, the quilt is then squared up and bound. We use a traditional double-folded binding on all of our quilts. A double-folded binding is important because it gives the quilt a finished look and stability to the quilt. Double-folded binding is created using a strip of coordinating fabric, folded and pressed in half, and then stitched by machine to the back and front of the quilt. Finally our label is stitched on the lower corner of the quilt.

Each quilt, from deciding on the fabric to stitching the label on the quilt, can take from 1 to 3 weeks to create. We take pride in creating our quilts, and only sell quilts that we would give as gifts or use in our home.

Taking care of your quilt

Our quilts are made to be used, washed, dried and used again.

Wash your quilt in cool water on gentle cycle with phosphate free detergent.
If you desire the traditional, crinkled quilt look, dry your quilt in the dryer on a low setting. The quilt will shrink up a bit giving you the desired effect.
If you would prefer to have your quilt without the crinkled effect, hang or lie flat for drying.

How our blankets are created

As with our quilts, are blankets are made with only high quality cotton top and high quality Minky backing. We use Hawthorne Threads Minky, which we have found to be softer than other well-known Minky that we have used in the past. We try to design blankets that are similar to our quilts.

The blankets are either whole cloth (made from one piece of fabric with no cutting or piecing involved), or pieced, depending on the fabric chosen.

The Minky is then cut to the size of the blanket top. The blanket is stitched, right-sides together, leaving an opening to turn the blanket inside out. The seams are trimmed; the blanket is turned and double stitched on the right-side of the blanket. This is done for decorative purposes and also to give the blanket stability. Finally our label is stitched in the lower corner of the blanket.

Each blanket, from the fabric decision to the final stitching the label on the blanket can take 2- 3 days depending on the complexity of the blanket.

Taking care of your blanket

Wash your blanket in cool water with phosphate free detergent.
Do not use fabric softener.
Blankets can be dried in the dryer on low setting.
Do not use dryer sheets.
If you want to press the top of the blanket, press on low-setting.
Do not iron the Minky side of the blanket.
