About

Widowhood meets Colorful Handmade Jewelry

In September of 2006, my life forever changed. My husband of twelve years was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer while in the midst of celebrating the birth of our first child. Just twelve months later, he passed, and I was faced with the reality of starting anew. It was then that I propelled myself into the crafts/arts industry while developing connections across the globe through the telling of my story and the building and sharing of my artistic endeavors via blogging and memory keeping. Eventually, I made it my life mission to be a full time artist in both the paper arts and jewelry design field. I returned to school to finish a Fine Arts degree and took on seven years worth of social media work for a popular scrapbook company called "Crate Paper" (American Crafts). Upon my departure from social media, I decided to open the Quirky Nook (June 2015) and focus exclusively on jewelry. Thus far, the shop has been positively embraced and is growing rapidly. The adventure continues...

The decision to open the Quirky Nook is based on my desire to share my love of color, texture and layering with those who LOVE handmade items as much as myself. The fashion accessories you'll find in my shop are exceptionally fun and charismatic-a reflection of life's 'brighter' side. They're crafted solely by me - one bead at a time.

Christine resides in the Twin Cities Metro Area, located conveniently on the Southern end of Minnesota. She is a fun-loving solo mom to a bright, insightful eight year old boy and works full time as an artist/designer from the comfort of her cozy, colorful homebound studio. As a current fine arts & graphic design student at River Falls University of Wisconsin, and 'lover of all Arts', Christine gives much time to exploring and cultivating her inner creativity and color addiction. Both are a continual work-in-progress and bring great joy to her life. She hopes to spread that joy to others through her one-of-a-kind jewelry creations.

First and foremost, thank you for stopping by! It’s my utmost hope that you landed here because you covet the beauty and unique opportunity of something pretty to wear. I create one-of-a-kind eclectic jewelry pieces, each filled with a great deal of heart, time, and careful consideration to detail.

I work exclusively from the comfort of my home studio (colorful shrine). My two passions are ART and DESIGN. I've been an avid jewelry designer for over a decade. My knowledge and experience in the field is extensive. My journey began in a small, quaint bead store at the Mall of America where I worked as a supervisor and inventory manager. While there, I learned a great deal about jewelry construction and beads, and also, the industry behind the scenes. I invested heavily in developing my own personal bead collection while contributing jewelry design ideas to popular publications like Beadwork & Bead and Button magazine. Eventually, I took time away from the hobby, but returned to start to a new jewelry boutique; Quirky Nook. Today, I'm a full time jewelry/paper artist and fine arts student at the University of River Falls, Wisconsin.

Every piece of jewelry at the Quirky Nook is truly a work of art. Each is individually created {myself only} using quality, hand-selected materials from around the globe; Czech glass, Vintage German glass, Swarovski crystal, semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, oxidized brass, and more. I travel far and wide in search of unique beads to ensure that my jewelry pieces are distinctive and memorable. No two pieces are ever alike.

Shipping
Allow at least two ‘business’ days for order to ship upon receiving your payment. I try diligently to ship orders as soon as possible upon payment completion. As for arrival time–it’s entirely dependent of your location. I ship “First Class” USPS both nationally and internationally. Upgrades to shipping are extended if preferred. Any extra shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.

*Shipping insurance is recommended – damage sustained during the shipping process is not the responsibility of the artist. Also, lost packages will not be followed with a replacement or refund.

International Customers–First Class Mail may take 15-30 days. The US Postal service does not offer tracking or insurance on first class packages. Lost or damaged packages are not my responsibility. An upgrade to Priority Mail is available, though additional fees may apply. The buyer is responsible for any and all import taxes or tariffs on international purchases.

Orders are carefully packaged in a turquoise colored 3.5” x 3.5” jewelry box, wrapped in ribbon, and labeled accordingly. It’s then placed inside a “bubble protected”, light packet before undergoing further labeling and shipping. Each step of the sales process is ‘tended to’ personally – the goal is to provide you a beautiful, streamlined experience from start to finish and to put in your hands, a well made accessory that you will love.

*Orders are shipped to the address published in your etsy account, so please make sure that this is the appropriate address. This is especially important if your address differs at Paypal.
Refunds and Exchanges
All sales are final unless negotiated otherwise. Because each accessory is meticulously produced from materials of various origins, it’s recommended that they be handled with care. Any upfront injury or craft ailment (not caused by shipping) may be applicable to a refund within the first seven days of ownership upon arrival. Shipping and Handling is non-refundable (unless a product ailment is the fault of the seller). Please contact seller about any concerns or issues resulting from a sale or product arrival. It’s my utmost goal to ensure you are happy with your purchase!

*INTERNATIONAL ORDERS, all sales are final. I'm unable to repair or refund overseas orders. Please note you are responsible for customs and customs charges, check your local post. I am not responsible for lost, stolen or undelivered mail for any reason. If you want to send registered mail for an extra amount, please contact me.

*CUSTOM ORDERS, all sales are final. Unless buyer is able to demonstrate a serious product default, custom orders are non-refundable.
