Our story...

I began designing knitted stuff in 1995 together with my sister in B.A., Argentina. At that time we worked for a very important outfits brand: Ona Sáez. It was there, for that brand, that we designed our first knitted outfits.
We’ve always been fond of natural fibers and experimenting with colors and textures. Wool is a signature material in our home country. We are very lucky to have top quality wool, so it was only natural that we began knitting with this beautiful and noble raw material.

After working for Ona Sáez during several years, I travelled to India. There I designed and produced different outfits based on Hindu saris. Back in Uruguay, in 1999, my sister and I created the quiroga-quiroga design brand for the production of knitted outfits. We sold to several different stores in Buenos Aires.

At present, quiroga-quiroga is a team of designers, knitters, spinners, loomers and embroiderers. What brings us together is the motivation to create and complete each garment as a unique piece. Our raw materials of choice are yarns and virgin wools from our region. We spin them, dye them, we knit with needles or looms… we experiment with new weaves coupling them with cloth and mixing up textures. We play with design and turn conventional techniques into new alternatives.
If we had to define quiroga-quiroga’s style in a few words, we would say: unique, timeless and exclusive outfits. Women of every age and style like our outfits, but they all have one thing in common: they value the cadence, respect and love we put in every piece of clothing. Those women like wearing unique outfits, made of noble materials and of well-cared for and detailed design and making. We want quiroga-quiroga outfits to be enjoyed for years.

The making of each piece of clothing has the work of several pair of hands; take, for instance, a loom weaved jacket:
first comes the loom design; then, the outfit design. The knitter knits the basic garment, the loomer weaves the loom for the frontal piece and the details and the dressmaker cuts the cloth, the loomed weave and puts the outfit together. Finally, the designer makes the quality control.

quiroga-quiroga exports its outfits to Argentina, Chile, Spain, Italy and France, besides selling in the local market, both to design stores and in our own showroom/workshop.
quiroga-quiroga outfits have been displayed in fashion shows and events in Barcelona (Spain), the Uruguayan Embassy in Paris (France), in Zona de Moda - Montevideo Show (Zaragoza, Spain), Uruguay Diseña in Helsinki (Finland) and locally, at the "Viva la lana" endeavor, annually organized by Manos del Uruguay.
We’re extremely proud of the prizes we've been awarded at II Ibero-American Design Biennial in Madrid in several categories, such as Fashion, Textile and Supplements and Design for Development.
