5 out of 5 starsI met Kate at local market and bought a tea towel (which I love) but kept thinking about her adorable bird ornaments, so I ordered one! It is so cute and looks adorable on the tree. I'm gifting it to my Aunt who has a bird themed Christmas tree and I know she'll love it. Kate was awesome and even sent a beautiful thank you Christmas card with the order. Such a talented gem!

About RabbitandWrenRVA
MY INSPIRATION
Rabbit & Wren creates beautiful items that help you express your love of nature in your home and wardrobe.
All work is designed and created by me, Kate Denwiddie. I am a sculptor, printmaker and naturalist, I was born by the ocean, raised in the mountains and now make my home in Richmond, VA. The work I create is based on the flora and fauna I encounter - mainly while exploring my beautiful home state of Virginia.
I love creating art that helps me understand a plant or animal. How is a honeysuckle blossom constructed? What do a rabbit's legs look like when it runs? What is the curve of a squirrel's spine? How many toes does a five-lined skink have on its back feet? I can explore these questions through art.
COMFORT AND WEARABILITY
About a year ago, I realized that while I love jewelry, I never wore it. I had beautiful necklaces and pendants, but I never put them on – or I wore them for only an hour or two at a time.
The reason? None of my jewelry was comfortable! Stone and glass beads were heavy and pulled on my neck; metal chains were irritating; and metal clasps caught in my my hair.
I wanted to find a more comfortable way to make my jewelry wearable, so I turned to natural materials – soft leather, cotton and bamboo. I restrung focal beads on bare cord. I used short stretches of metal chain between leather laces. I created clasps from light wooden beads. The change was immediate, and the joy of jewelry returned!
Rabbit & Wren creates light, comfortable jewelry that works with an active lifestyle. Nature lovers don’t just want to see flora and fauna on a necklace – we want to go out exploring, and our jewelry needs to go with us!
