These cards are beautiful. They are the perfect size and have a great weight and feel to the paper. I've already used all of them. Need to restock.

About

Molly in a nutshell, help I'm in a nutshell!

I originally wanted to go to art school to meet boys.

Obviously my thought process is totally flawless. I had a dream of getting a degree in graphic design and then working at a record label in the art department and then falling in love with a bass player with shaggy hair. That was the dream, the dream I tell you!

I graduated from art school in 2006 and did briefly work at a record label but there was a staggering lack of shaggy haired boys, the pay wasn't great either. I soon took a job with a design firm that focused on sustainable design and had a great love affair with that company for a few years. At that point the economy wasn't great and I was eventually laid off. I started Rabbit Foot Fern first as just a blog and a way to talk about design and focus my visual thoughts. I purchased a gocco which is a small print making device and started making stationery just for fun. A friend mentioned that I should do a little craft fair and see if anything I make will sell. I sold out of almost everything and my line was picked up by the Museum of Folk and Craft art gift shop. It was what they call an "ah-ha" moment.

I tried to grow my little side business at every chance. I built up a freelance business while working a full time job. I started regularly doing local craft fairs and partnered with wedding planners to provide custom wedding invitations. I was able to leave my full time job three years later. Since then I graduated to using letterpress even though I still have my gocco packed up in my closet, I can't bear to let it go!

Now I run my business from a spare bedroom in my Oakland home. We currently thrive on a few wholesale accounts in San Francisco, Oklahoma and Oregon. Our walls are a collage of inspiration and projects, some half done. I always start the day with a specific record. I come into the studio, put my coffee down (I might also be in whatever I slept in) and put on an album. Recently it's been a lot of David Bowie. It really helps to sit down and answer a ton of emails if you have the proper inspiration to get it done. I know that after this pile I can sit and draw for a few hours so he helps motivate.

A friend of ours once said "you're not a maker, you're a cutesmith". First thing I was totally touched because it was just a really nice thing to say and second, I couldn't agree more. My bottom line is that I want to make cute things. Sure, the second might be that I want them to be a little creepy but the cuteness is always my number one priority.

Carol and I met online while I was sourcing pencils. I admired her work and we started chatting, she now prints all of my pencil products and I couldn't be happier with the quality of her product!
