A Bit About It

Rachael was first recognized at five when her artwork was chosen for her K-8 school’s 20th anniversary commemorative t-shirt. Soon after, she began selling painted rocks in the neighborhood.
At ten, her artwork was chosen by the University of Washington Bookstore to be featured in their annual calendar.
Her nineteenth summer, art took her to Italy where she enjoyed living and painting in Florence. After returning to Seattle, she became an apprentice for a local artist and was tasked with stretching and treating canvases.
Rachael has been a full-time working artist since 2014 when she took a risk and quit her day job. Now, she splits her time between running her small art business from a daystall at Pike Place Market, painting commissions and filling orders.

Perched atop a squeaky chair, a bin of paints and a smattering of brushes, I stare excitedly at a blank canvas. Painting and drawing is like going on vacation. It's like riding a fickle, intangible breeze that is forever changing just as I'm getting ahold of it. My goal is to show you this wondrous place.

Currently, my work, is a variable mix of loose realism, and a more vibrant reality. Pieces up to this point have been from an artist looking to collect new perspective and techniques. Whereas now, though continuing to expand on these skills, I am focusing on the simplicity of feelings. The thickness of a line or the colors in a figure, can convey mood, inspire nostalgia, incite happiness, and excite adventure. The manipulation of color, movement and light are a few of the ways I summon feelings within my viewers.

Presently a vendor at the Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA, Rachael makes this her sole income. Stop bye and see her stuff! However if you can't, that's why she is here.
