We love that we get to work with our hands to make tangible things that bring happiness to others.

Hi, we're Rachel and Bo! We live in the mountains of North Carolina where we make bags, hike, play with our cats, and drink all the local beer (and cider!) we can find. We're also big fans of just sitting on our porch and staring at the trees (with our cats and our beers/ciders, of course).

Rachel started Rachel Elise in 2008 while earning her BFA in Fiber Art at the University of North Texas. Shortly after she started selling her bags, she met Bo, and they fell in love (awwwwww). Bo had recently graduated from college and soon landed a full-time marketing job. Rachel finished up her studies, married Bo, and made Rachel Elise her full-time job in 2011.

Fast-forward to 2016, and Bo is super over his once-fancy marketing job. Some stars aligned and Bo quit his job and started helping out with Rachel Elise. It was supposed to be a temporary thing, but we realized we really liked working together! Bo picked up a bit of sewing, improved our product photography, and learned more about rotary cutters and squeegees than he ever thought he would. Later that year, we realized that with both of us being completely self-employed, we should move to the place we'd always aspired to live: the mountains! In 2017, we packed up our studio and our cats and headed to western North Carolina.

Now, you can find our bags in shops around the country, but specifically around the Carolinas and Texas, where we're still proud of our roots. We design, cut, print, and stitch every bag in our home studio, and hope to do so for years to come! Cheers!

    Hi, I'm Bo! In 2016, I quit my marketing job and joined the Rachel Elise team to manage shipping, prepare materials, and handle all our product photography. Oh and also I'm married to Rachel, which is pretty rad.

Returns and exchange details
If there is a problem with the item you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible so we can work toward you being a happy customer! Refunds and exchanges are generally accepted but are handled on an individual basis. The following basic guidelines are applied to most scenarios:

> > Items that are returned due to misrepresentation of product will receive a full refund and the customer will be reimbursed for the cost of the return shipping.

> > Items that are returned though accurately represented in the item's description, measurements, etc will receive a full refund for the price of the item sans shipping charges.

> > Once an item as been exchanged for a new item, the sale is final.
Rachel Elise accepts payment via credit card and Paypal. A 7% sales tax will be added to North Carolina orders. International customers should note that customs charges vary by country and package and are the responsibility of the buyer, not the seller.
All items are sewn when ordered. Please allow up to ten calender days for the production of your bag, and an additional 2-3 business days for US shipping. (Orders shipping to locations outside the US generally take 2-3 weeks to arrive). You will receive an email when your order has shipped to let you know that it's en route!

US orders are shipped with tracking via USPS priority mail or USPS first class shipping. You can find tracking information in the "order has shipped" email you receive from Etsy once the package is on the way.

International orders are shipped via the United States Postal Service. International customs charges vary by country and package and are the responsibility of the buyer, not the seller.

Orders can usually be sent out more quickly if you're in a time crunch. The rush fee is an additional 25% of the item price. Feel free to message us for more info about this option!

Please contact us ASAP if you have placed an order with an outdated address. Rachel Elise is not responsible for packages mailed to incorrect or outdated addresses. Misaddressed items are generally returned to the sender and can be reshipped for an additional shipping charge.

If a package takes longer than expected to arrive, we ask that we honor a 3 week waiting period (8 weeks for non-U.S. shipping) for the package to be kicked back to us, the seller, or to arrive to you, the buyer. Sometimes packages get held up due to winter weather, international customs, or just because. Once the waiting period has passed, we will discuss options on refunds, exchanges, or re-shipping. Your patience is greatly appreciated!

Lost packages, while extremely rare, do happen on occasion and will be handled on a case by case basis. Items that have tracking info indicating that the item was delivered successfully will not be replaced.

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorized Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order, for example), if you contact me directly.
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest toimprove my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:
Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.
I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction.
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
For purposes of EU data protection law, I, Nathan Martin, am the data controller of your personal information.
