These notebooks are great - creative, sturdy and well made. And the refills are priced fair and shipped instantly. Love my purchase.

Gorgeous little notebook, only wish I could have gotten two! Now I understand that each one is made from a children's book cover so there are usually no duplicates.

About

Happiness: A need to create, a pile of cast off materials and some four legged cuteness.

My mom was always encouraging me to be creative - and busy - by sending me and my brother outside to play in the woods and making us homemade play dough and finger paints. We didn't have a lot of money but she was very resourceful. We always had a nice, cozy home and fun things to do. Plus, we had stuff no one else had (which I'll admit as a kid wasn't always cool). All of this stuck with me into adulthood and I am so grateful for that.

I started selling mosaic pots at my local farmers market almost 10 years ago. I then started to branch out into other functional home decor items made from reclaimed cupboard doors, frames and hardware. The design for my refillable notepads came from my own need to constantly jot down ideas and make lists. I didn't like using the boring little spiral notepads for my list making and the pretty handmade books with permanent binding didn't work for me either. I needed something cute and something I could refill after I used up all the pages. After some experimentation, the Rags + Bones Refillable Notepad was born! My resourceful nature has inspired me to create many of the other items in my shop using scraps from my notepads and other miscellaneous projects. I have even found a way to use tiny circles of paper from my hole punch!

Starting my Etsy shop seemed like a great way of sharing my wares with the world. I have reached people all over the United States as well as Europe and even Australia! I love knowing that someone on the other side of the world is using and enjoying something I created with my own two hands.

I want the things I create to have some kind of meaning beyond their function. The recycled nature of what I do is part of that meaning. Another part of it comes from my deep love and compassion for abused, neglected or otherwise needy animals. A portion of all sales in my shop is donated to animal rescue. My two dogs, Jackson and Huckleberry, and my cat Lewis (all rescue) make me laugh every day. They remind me to takes breaks, to play and to get outside and enjoy the moment! I also volunteer at my local shelter and I love getting to know each dog's personality and the bittersweet joy I feel when they find their forever home. Any little thing that can be done to help an animal find its way to a loving home is worth doing.

Owner, Maker, Designer, I Do It All!

I have been making things with my hands for as long as I can remember. Besides my passion for paper, glitter and paint, I also love animals, plants, baking and making candy, old horror movies and hiking (especially at the beach).
