Announcement   ***Yarn De-Stash EXTRAVAGANZA! ***Since I am taking some time off from making dolls, I have a huge amount of yarn just sitting here. Don't worry, I still have a ton left and am keeping half of my total amount of yarn, but why let all this beautiful handspun yarn just sit here when it could be making a beautiful scarf or beautiful doll hair instead? 99% of this yarn has been purchased here on etsy by fiber artisans. I will be taking off a few dollars from what I originally purchased the yarn at. My home, is of course, a non-smoking home and this yarn has been kept in airtight boxes since purchasing.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your interest in Rainbow Dolls!

You might be wondering why my dolls cost so much money or what a Waldorf doll even is?

Each doll is unique and one of a kind. It takes me up to 24 hours to hand make each doll which are made by combination of machine sewing and hand sewing. They are made with 100% organic cotton anti-pill interlock for skin, their heads are made by carefully hand rolling the clean carded Eco-wool into a firm ball and the bodies are nicely stuffed with the Eco-wool which is naturally anti-bacterial, warms to the touch and absorbs the smells of the home, cotton floss for hand embroidering the faces, and A LOT of handspun & hand dyed wool for hair which mostly comes from fellow etsians, which is hand sewn onto each head! The cheeks are blushed with an all natural stockmar beeswax crayon.

I find my prices by doubling the amount I spend on materials. I actually don't get paid very much at all for all the time I put into making these dolls, but I love making them and seeing the happy children who love them.

A Waldorf doll is made of wool and cotton, using techniques drawing on traditional European dollmaking, its appearance is intentionally simple in order to allow the child playing with it to improve or strengthen imagination and creativity.

Each doll comes with care instructions and a swatch to reblush your doll, if need be. All dolls and clothing is made in my smoke and pet free home! Please feel free to ask me any questions!

I want to share more info about Eco-Wool because I think its really important for you to know!:

A sustainably grown wool that's exceptionally clean. This high quality, U.S. sourced wool is blended specifically for extra softness and resilience. 30% certified organic content.

1. PROPER GRAZING METHODS: Growers rotate pastures to prevent overgrazing and soil erosion. Proper grazing creates a higher quality wool and protects the health of the sheep.

2. PREDATOR FRIENDLY: Trained sheep dogs guard the flock. Natural predators are not poisoned, trapped, or shot.

3. HEALTHY VETERINARY PRACTICES: Only certain kinds of medications and supplements can be used to treat the sheep. Sheep raised in open pastures are healthier and require less vet care.

4. FIELDS PROTECTED FROM PESTICIDES: No use of herbicides and pesticides on fields where the sheep will be grazing. Wool is spot tested to ensure that no harmful chemicals have been used.

5. OPPOSE CHEMICAL PROCESSING OF THE WOOL: This wool is not carbonized (dipped in strong acid to dissolve residual matter), dipped (at many farms, sheep are dipped in pesticides), or bleached.

6. SHEEP FRIENDLY: Highly skilled shearing crews trained to shear the sheep with as much care and as harmlessly as possible.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept paypal only payments.
Shipping
I ship USPS priority mail flat rate for $10.40-$14.50 in the USA depending on the size of the doll and where they will fit best and will go out within 48hours after purchase. I am happy to ship internationally. Please contact me for actual shipping cost to your destination. If you need your item to be shipping at a faster shipping speed, I am happy to do that for you as well.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do not accept returns. I am happy to do repairs, if ever needs be, for no charge besides shipping.

There are no refunds on deposits for a custom doll after 24 hours of purchase. If you decide you don't want a custom spot after all, I will not be able to refund your deposit. Please be certain you want a doll made before having me set up a custom listing for you.

Please note that due the handmade nature of the dolls, each doll is slightly different. Some dolls will be 16" on the dot and some may vary slightly. Each doll is made the same but since there is no exact equation to making the dolls, some can be a bit thicker or thinner, but not by much. Dolls can sometimes have heads that move slightly. This is a matter of personal preference and does not affect the doll head's security. Please understand that I stand behind my work, but will not accept a doll back just because of these minor differences.

I encourage rehoming a doll to another family if you decide a doll is not for you and what you decide to sell it for is up to you. If someone who purchases your doll chooses to resell it, Rainbow Dolls is not responsible for what occurs (as I can't be certain the person who originally buys the doll didn't damage it before selling it etc).
Additional policies and FAQs
Here is a list of MY cost of materials that I use per 16" doll:

1/2 yard of organic cotton interlock for skin: $7.50 + shipping

1/2 yard of fabric per outfit: $8.50-$14.00 depending on the designer + shipping

1 skein of 80-100 yards of handspun wool for hair $30-40 dollars + shipping

1 hand knit doll sweater $20

inner head tubing $.88 per head + shipping

I use close to 1 lb. of Eco-Wool per 16" doll $15.95 + shipping

Then there is the cost of my sewing maching, needles for the machine and hand sewing, ribbon, buttons, etsy fees, time for promotion and photo taking, wool felt for clothing, etc.

As you can see, its not cheap to make one of these dolls! I don't make much money from making them, but really love to make them. At some point, if I start selling a lot of dolls, I can order certain things in bulk and get it for a bit less money, but things like the handspun artisan wool for hair, will probably always cost the same amount. I wanted to list this all out for you, so that you can see that I am not trying to gouge you for money. I truly wish these materials were less expensive so that I could charge you less, but that is not a possiblity at this time. The quality of these materials is important to me and should be to you as well, for the sake of your child's health and well being.
