About

Bringing back the spirit of the Animals.

In 1997 I went on a vacation that lead me all over the southwest and into the Dakota's and other beautiful places. I set up camp in Custer State Park located in the Blackhills of South Dakota. I met a group of Sioux and Lakota Native Americans whom were there gathering animals mainly Deer that had been hunted for food since it was the beginning of hunting season. They educated me on all the different purposes that the animal carcass has and the many different things that can be made. I found what they did to be very interesting. For the next few years I traveled back to this location and yearned to learn more and more.

I became a part of the group and was taught how to use the bones, claws, teeth, hides and shells to make beautiful crafts. I have now been doing this for 15 years and love every minute of what I do.

Our group has gotten bigger and expanded into the states of Minnesota, Wyoming and Colorado. We are now a gathering group of 38 taxidermist and crafters.

Please take some time to look at the unique items I sell and the unique craft that I have been blessed to learn.

Thanks
Cindy

Welcome to Rainbow Native Traders! I have been working with several groups of Native American Gathers located in North & South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, Arizona and Colorado. All the animal items have been gathered by these groups. No animal has been killed for profit. These animals have dies of natural causes such as starvation or old age. Some have been victim of road kill and others have been hunted for food. During hunting season the gathers provide a service to the hunters and remove the remains of the animal. They are also called upon by the farmers/ranch owners whenever they have had to extinguish mainly coyotes from attacking their farm animals. The coyote are a big problem for the farmers/ranchers. During the winter months many animals die due to starvation and become victims of road kill since they head towards populated areas in search of food. The Native Americans hold animals high and believe all parts of the animal are useful and should not go to waste.
