About Xylographilia
Inside Xylographilia
Xylographilia is a combination of the word "xylograph" (literally "wood-writing") and the suffix "-philia" (meaning "love"), translates to "the love of woodcut" and was coined to capture the nature of the merchandise sold here. In addition to hand-pulled woodcut prints, you'll also find authentic wood veneer postcards and bookmarks, and other items featuring my art. Most of my subject matter is influenced by historic styles of printmaking, imagery drawn from folklore, dreams, and esoteric traditions.
My printmaking process blends traditional and modern tools with European and Japanese techniques, and every one of my fine art prints is printed by hand in small editions on cotton-rag paper or animal parchment. Although my woodcut process is always being refined, precision and technical control are constants. The main challenge is to adhere to these values while still leaving room for a certain amount of spontaneity.

Additional policies and FAQs
I buy locally whenever possible and favor domestically made materials. My tools and woodblocks (which originate in Japan) are purchased from a fantastic local print supplier, McClains. My ink is made in Seattle, Washington by Daniel Smith. BFK Rives, my paper of choice is made in France (I am on the lookout for a domestic printing paper, but so far nothing I've tried suits my style).
