This necklace is seriously the most gorgeous jewelry I’ve ever seen, and full of folktale magic. The details are so intricate and precise, and it has a really nice weight to it (a must for me). I connected to it IMMEDIATELY. Naomi is so kind to work with, and I love her commitment to sustainability. I will cherish this all my days. It feels like she tapped into the same energy that inspires my own soul when she created this treasure. She included many extra gifts as well, which brought me to tears! I highly recommend this shop if you can’t tell! Top quality.

A beautiful little neck companion, carefully wraped and sent with lots of nice attentions :)
this is the forest primeval // the murmuring pines and the hemlocks
I've been a painter, graphic novelist and illustrator my whole life. Being creative by nature I've also always loved sewing and creating clothes and jewels for myself; I learned skills like sewing, mending garments, knit and crochet (as well as the nearly lost art of sock darning) from my grandmothers and great grandmother at a very young age. Raintower is a synchronization of inbuilt creativity taught to me in a family culture of recycling and reinventing, skills that were once necessary for immediate survival.
Raintower carries that legacy in creating garments and jewels using material that would otherwise be discarded. This isn't seasonal, trend-based fashion, but a continuously growing and evolving collection in a timeless and unique style which can be worn all year round.
Raintower clothes and jewels often begin in the same place my paintings or drawings do - by wishing a vision in my mind existed in the material world. I experiment with fabric textures, colours and dyes and many of my garment designs come about organically just like a piece of art.
My initial designs and ideas are then filtered through the extensive knowledge of pattern construction from my seamstress Karin (who has taught me much!) to create something which translates from dream to reality.
Raintower's jewellery line is also an extension of this organic process; I look to a lifetime of painting and drawing skills and adapt them into three dimensional versions of my art. I first create tiny wax sculptures, patiently carved to the exact size and design as the intended jewel, using precise tools and files. These little wax models are then set in moulds and used to cast the jewelry using the ‘lost wax’ method. I use either sterling silver or bronze metal; and after cleaning and polishing the finished piece it's sometimes set with gemstones and crystals.
While in my younger years I never thought my interest in sewing and fashion would become part of my livelihood and life's work, I have endless wonder, gratitude and appreciation for my customers around the world who collect and wear my designs. To do what you love is the ultimate happiness.
ABOUT RAINTOWER AND SUSTAINABILITY
Raintower clothing is ethical, handmade and unique. Each design is limited edition, sometimes one of a kind, envisioned by artist Naomi Nowak and expertly constructed with the help of her valued friend and seamstress / sustainability expert, Karin Öst.
What sets Raintower so completely apart in the world of ethical fashion is the fact that we use 100% recycled textile. Each and every Raintower garment is made from high quality cotton, fleece and viscose sourced from second hand shops and textile sorting plants in Sweden and Europe. We use these fabrics almost exclusively for their softness and suitability to a wide range of products that are comfortable, flattering and feel good on your body.
Using reclaimed textiles is not only an ecological benefit but a good choice for your health as well. Newly manufactured textile is heavily processed with toxic chemicals and it takes many washes to get them out. Ever seen a new garment with a ‘wash before use’ sticker? It’s because the chemicals are so bad they can irritate your skin, and there is as yet very little research about the long term effects of this exposure.
All Raintower textiles are clean when we buy them. But we go further and launder our completed garments using completely natural and biodegradable Sapindus nuts (also known as soap berries) to further remove the last of the chemical detergents.
Not only are we the only fashion house we know of that’s 100% recycled, but our production outfit is very small (just one designer and one seamstress!). There is no industrial-scale supply chain and no oppressive demand on dwindling resources; we source it, make it and ship it straight to you.
Because of this we can maintain high ethical standards that bigger companies disregard as ‘inefficient’ for their scale and output. Our methods are slower, the financial outlay is higher – at this time we can only produce what two women are capable of, but we think these are small costs to pay for the infinitely larger rewards of conscious consumerism. Getting new clothes is fun and life-affirming; this shouldn't have to come with the uneasy feeling of supporting unethical manufacture!
We also offer alterations, repairs and exchanges because we want your garment to last - something designed to have a long life is an additional way of providing an ethical product and working in the spirit of grandmothers.
What about organic cotton, recycled fibre and recycled textile?
Organic cotton is grown using kinder methods and less chemicals than its industrial counterpart so it is on the surface a better choice. But it's still a strain on the earth and takes up land that could be used to grow food or preserve our vital oxygen breathing forests. Why make new product when there is so

Do you offer in jewels in different finishes, such as high polished silver or blackened silver?
Yes ! Please place your order and include your desired finish in the 'notes to seller' box at checkout.
The jewel I want to purchase is not currently in shop! Can I still order one?
Yes. Please write us and we will set up a custom order! We cannot guarantee swift shipping however, it will take at least 4 weeks.
When will your jewellery collection be back/updated?
I've set this date to early spring 2018, stay tuned :) You can follow me on instagram @naominowak for updates.
Can I order any ring size, including half sizes?
Absolutely. If your ring size is not listed pick the one closest and include your desired size in the 'notes to seller' box at checkout.
Do you create custom jewels or do custom alterations to current jewel designs?
Yes. This includes casting any of our designs in different metals than the ones listed (most of our jewels are sterling/925 silver by default but red and yellow bronze and gold are also possible!). We can also set them with different stones or custom stones provided by you as long as the measurements are right. If you wish to have an entirely new jewel created just for you this is also possible! Let's talk :)
Can I order a larger or smaller print than the options listed?
Yes. Please write to us.
Can you sign on the front/back/not at all?
By default all prints are signed on the back and not numbered. They can be unsigned or signed on the front as well, just input your wishes in the 'notes to seller' box at checkout!
Do you make plus or petite size garments?
Yes ! We are happy to create almost any garment in any size. We don't have plus/petite sizes listed as standard yet because we prefer to work with our customer more directly and make sure we get it right. Please be in touch, we are happy to hear from you!
How do I know which size to pick?
Raintower follows standard European sizing and most of our garments are made with soft and stretchy material . If you are unsure which size to pick we advise that you pick the one you think is closest but input your measurements in the 'notes to seller' at checkout. That way we can alter your garment if need be!
Do you make custom alterations to your garments?
Absolutely, within reason - we are happy to lengthen, widen, shorten any design at no extra cost. We are also open to adding small details to garments such as pockets or a hood but as that means altering a garment pattern we do ask for an additional fee. We are happy to discuss but are thankful if you specify alterations in your order when placing it as well. You are more than welcome to ask us specifically if you are unsure.
Do you create custom garments for special occasions, such as wedding dresses?
Yes, we are happy and honoured every time a bride or groom to be gets in touch ;)
I saw a Raintower garment on social media or in the 'sold' category on etsy, and it is not available in your shop. Can you make it for me?
We are not taking custom orders at this time, unfortunately our work load doesn't allow it. We may offer this again in future and will be announcing it if and when we do!
I've received my order and the garment doesn't fit.
As long as the garment hasn't been worn (only tried on) and no more than two months have passed since the shipping date we are happy to alter your garment, exchange it for a different one or for store credit or refund your garment.
SHIPPING & PAYMENT
When will my item ship?
In stock items ship within 7 business days. This includes original, ready to ship garments, most prints and most jewels. Made to order items, such as collection garments take between 2-5 weeks. Jewellery and prints is sometimes out of stock and take longer. This especially goes for rings as we have sizing to consider. We are a small business, we craft by hand and do not have the facilities or finances to keep large stock.
Will I be notified when my item ships?
Yes! We send out shipping notifications.
My item has shipped, when will it reach me?
1-3 business days within Sweden, 3-7 business days EU, 5-10 business days international. Please be advised that these are approximate shipping times -- customs sometimes holds on to packages and there is nothing we can do about it. This can cause additional delays (especially to the US) of several weeks. This is fairly rare but not unheard of. High summer and holiday season also slow down shipping times.
Do you have a tracking number for my order?
We do not offer tracking numbers as shipping standard except for on orders over 500 usd. This is for two reasons - one, tracking is rather expensive with Swedish post, and two, not really needed. However you have the option of adding tracking to your order at checkout on etsy or requesting it via our contact form on raintower.se.
Do you combine shipping for separate orders?
If you have a current, unshipped order and wish to place another we are happy to combine shipping. Go ahead and place your additional order(s) and contact us to let us know; we will refund shipping overages. Include orders for both order numbers when you do so. Please note that this may delay your first order.
I have not received my order.
While delays happen from time to time it's very rare indeed for packages to get entirely lost in the mail. If your package has been returned to us we will notify you. If it's been more than a month since your order shipped and you still have not received it please let us know right away. We will speak to the post office and do everything in our power to make sure you get what you've paid for. We work hard to keep customers happy!
What is VAT?
VAT is a type of tax charged on all transactions within the European Union. Due to Etsy's 2016 change in VAT policy this is no longer built into the system on this site.
Am I eligible for a VAT refund on my order?
If you are located outside the European Union and ask for the refund within 48 hours of placing your order then yes. The refund will be 20%, excluding shipping. You can also ask about this prior to ordering or WITH your order in the notes to seller.
Please note that orders of multiple items from Raintower may on rare occasions ship separately. There is no additional shipping cost and we will be sure to notify you :)
Insured/tracked shipping is available as an added option at checkout. Standard shipping does not include tracking.
Please allow up to 10 business days for international shipping (2-5 business days within the European Union). We try to keep this an affordable store for everyone which means the default shipping option is low-budget. If you would like a quicker delivery, please let us know and we can set that up.
Non-custom items such as art and prints or pre-existing clothes have a 3-5 business days handling time BEFORE they ship -- but usually less. Custom orders take up to 4 weeks as we have to go out and hunt for the best fabric, sew the item and then dye it - all hand made, all recycled!
