Announcement   This isn't your normal mug shop. Ever wonder what the Tudors cooked out of? Perhaps you wanted to drink a beer out of a vessel that someone in the 16th century England might have used? Want a real German Stein? Well, I have your piece! My specialty is historical reproductions (historical pottery/ historical ceramics) of actual pieces found throughout the centuries, around the world, between roughly 1000 BC until 1700AD.

I don't copy the forms exactly, but I will usually keep some of my own hand in the making of the pieces. I adjust the work for modern tastes (i.e. larger, more color various, smoother surfaces, thinner and lighter throwing, etc) as well as health reasons (i.e. glazing many forms that weren't glazed, not using lead, etc). My work is mostly high fired stoneware, all microwave and dishwasher safe, as well as being lead-free.

Ceramics isn't my only art form. I've painted (and drawn), done paper art, pyrography, do photography, jewelry, needlework, cook, and a variety of other arts over the years. My work has appeared in numerous publications and galleries over the past 25 years, and I've written articles for a variety of national magazines and newspapers as well.

Please feel free to also visit my website and blog at: http://rakurakuteipottery.blogspot.com/

Thank you for stopping by ye' ol' pottery shop.

My work is mostly high fired stoneware, all microwave and dishwasher safe, as well as being lead-free. I base my work mostly on historical pottery, i.e. pieces that have been found throughout the world on archeological digs. I especially enjoy English pottery, German pottery, as well as Viking influences (Anglo Saxon and the Norman Conquest).

Thank you for visiting my shop. Please feel free to e-mail me with any queries you may have.
