Great things are meant to last forever! I mostly seek out natural fibres (silk, bamboo, cotton, flax/linen, wool) because these materials are generally produced in a more gentle & slow fashion, they’re the safest for us to wear on our skin, they stand the test of time, and can be easily updated, altered, embellished, and dyed to bring forth even more life.
I believe in the importance of preserving fabrics and textiles and giving them new life! Not only because they give us insight into the history of our societies and the technologies we used to express the unique needs and expressions of the time, but also because this preservation is a practice of mindfulness. Preservation is key. We do not need to produce more clothing, instead we should to take stock of the abundance that exists at our fingertips, and get creative with what is already here. Trends are cyclical and our clothing is meant to be recycled and met again, time and time again, by fresh eyes!
