The first embroidery project I did was a backpack for my 7 year old niece. I used her own drawings and transfer them to the fabric. She loved it!
But it wasn't until I went to Alhambra in 2006 and was overwhelmed by the place, that I had the idea of embroidering patterns. My first design was inspired by a pattern found inside the Tower of the Captive, one of the most finely and complex decorated places of the palace, named after a romantic legend.
Being self-taught, it took me a while to get the shapes and stitches that I wanted exactly right. But I had a big help from my family tree: my grandmother was a flawless embroiderer and my father worked as a tailor when young (and still offers to help mend my clothes, once in a while).
I hope you enjoy my work, and keep visiting to see the new and upcoming designs.
