About

Rare Specimens - A bead and nature lover's creative outlet

I opened my Etsy shop in 2010 as a showcase to display and sell some of my beadwork creations. Before I discovered Etsy, I gave most of my work away as gifts to friends and family. I still do, but now I have a platform for selling some of my pieces to people who find me on the internet, which makes me happy.

I decided on the name "Rare Specimens" for my shop because a lot of the items I've made are inspired by nature and most of them are original/one of a kind designs. I like botanical imagery as well as entomology (insects) and marine biology. I also like fungi...and birds...geology...the list goes on. My Rare Specimens creations are how I express my appreciation for the art of nature.

Welcome to the RareSpecimens Etsy shop! The items you see here are the result of a love of beadwork that spans over half of my lifetime. I strive to create beautiful, interesting, unique and above all, wearable jewelry of the highest quality craftsmanship.

Please pay careful attention to jewelry sizing, particularly in the case of bracelets. If you see a bracelet you like that measures smaller or bigger than you like to wear them, please convo me and I may be able to modify the fit.

Also, keep in mind that most beadwoven jewelry is somewhat delicate, and will last longest if treated gently.
