Handcrafted Pottery Inspired by Nature

Hyrum, Utah | 230 Sales

Announcement    HANDMADE by two(2)humans! Functional & Decorative Pottery. Nature is our inspiration and we LOVE color!
**We opened our Etsy shop quite awhile ago(2008)thinking it would be easy to run an online business and selling retail at outdoor venues and keeping up with wholesale orders. We were wrong! So unfortunately we didn't do much with Etsy until this year. When the pandemic hit all the art festivals we were scheduled to participate in cancelled as well as our wholesale orders to retail gift shops in several National Parks in the western U.S. Now we are working like crazy to keep our Etsy store stocked.**

We create pieces that fit any decor or style, surprise any bride or birthday recipient or satisfy the art and pottery lover.

We focus our work with nature in mind. Many pieces have leaf imprints, stylized landscapes and found driftwood attached as handles to vases and jars.

Enjoy looking through our shop; we are excited to have you here!

A peek into the process in our studio. These pieces have been fired once. Now we stain, wax, glaze and repeat, repeat, repeat! From here they will be loaded in the kiln and fired to 2350 degrees, the final firing.

K & Kerri Rasmussen, Full-time Artists/Potters since 1986

We opened our Etsy shop quite awhile ago(2008)thinking it would be easy to run an online business and selling retail at outdoor venues and keeping up with wholesale orders. We were wrong! So unfortunately we didn't do much with Etsy until this year. When the pandemic hit all the art festivals we were scheduled to participate in cancelled as well as our wholesale orders to retail gift shops in several National Parks in the western U.S. Now we are working like crazy to keep our Etsy store stocked. There is a great variety of handmade decorative and functional pottery.

As a husband and wife team we have enjoyed making a living creating beautiful art! Our studio is located in Hyrum, Utah, nestled in the beautiful Cache Valley in Northern Utah. We have raised 5 children while being self-employed artists and now have 11 grandchildren. In a normal year we travel throughout the western states during the year participating in art festivals where we enjoy meeting people and telling them about our work.

One of the things we love to do is incorporate nature into our pieces; namely actual leaf imprints or using repetitive carving and designs to imitate nature. Our pottery is functional and can be used in the dishwasher, oven and microwave. Carving and bold glaze colors are used to enhance the contrast between glazed and unglazed clay.

Our pottery is carried in several gift shops including but not limited to Grand Teton National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Red Rock Elements Gift Shop outside of Las Vegas, NV.

  • K L Rasmussen

    Owner, Creator

I have loved art and nature from a young age. While in college studying architecture I needed an elective and chose a pottery class. There was no turning back and I switched my major to Ceramics. I have a Masters of Fine Art Degree from USU.

  • Kerri Rasmussen

    Assistant, Manager, Co-creator

We met in art class nearly 40 years ago. After college we decided to go full-time and travel to sell pottery. K L needed help and I felt qualified and excited to be his assistant. Along the way I developed a love of clay and my own line of work.

Shop policies

Last updated on September 2, 2020
Welcome to our shop! We are a husband and wife team producing handmade pottery for over 25 years. We handcraft every single piece; sometimes handling them up to a dozen times! We work hard to create beautiful pieces that are both functional and decorative. All of our pottery is thrown on the wheel or made from slabs of clay.

We want to make sure you have a 5 star experience with us! We are happy to work with you and solve any discrepancies or problems you may have with our work.

Our work reflects the beauties of nature that we see around us: landscapes, sunsets, leaves and the changing seasons.

It is functional and can be used in the dishwasher, oven and microwave. We like to think of our work as "functional art". Our glazes are lead-free and non-toxic. Each piece is unique and original. Slight variations are part of the handmade process; these are not considered flaws, but add to the uniqueness of each piece.
