Geomantically, Ravenland is the Pacific Northwest, the numinous domain of the mighty, indigenous Raven God. Archetypally, it is a boundless, protean realm of shape-shifting, magick, and mystery. In personal terms, it is the ever-evolving place-that-is-not-a-place where Ziggy and Kevin live and love and pursue their mad visions.
Back in the 1990s, she assembled a collection of her poems and prose vignettes under the title Ravenland, and started to use the name Ravenland Arts to sell her ceramics and hand-bound books. Kevin began assisting her in 2004, and they officially re-founded the business as an LLC partnership in 2011.
Over the years, they have sold at local events such as Clay Fest, Eugene Saturday Market, Holiday Market, Art and the Vineyard, and the Faerieworlds Festival. A great many attendees responded enthusiastically to the unique Ravenland mix of mysticism, craftsmanship, scholarship, and spookiness—along with humorous whimsy. This Etsy shop was established in 2008, and while it has heretofore been mostly a lower-tier priority, it will be getting much more emphasis going forward. Many works have also gone forth through wholesale accounts, consignment accounts, and special retail orders.
Much study, thought, and practice lie behind these works of art and craft, and just as a picture is said to be worth a thousand words, so too can a sculpture, mug, or chalice assume a talismanic quality and embody a great deal of philosophy.
Plans for the future of Ravenland Arts LLC include diversifying the product line with more graphic art, works in wood and fabric, and mixed-media creations; expanding and promoting this Etsy shop; and adding more in-person events that fit with our favorite themes.
A concluding thought: "Over the years our appreciation for the support of our friends and customers has grown ever deeper. Despite all the travails of this age, a new holistic culture seems to be forming in our region and beyond, expressed organically in countless modes of creativity. We feel blessed to be a part of this unfolding, and wish to go on and on with it."
