Announcement    In the night of June 2th 2018 my camera bag was stolen. It contained two Canon 6d's, one Speedlite 340III, a Canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens and some batteries. All my digital gear and half of my professional work is done digital. I started this shop so I can sell some handmade analog prints to raise money to buy the necessary new gear.

film photography prints, t-shirts and mugs from Amsterdam

The analog resurrection deals only with half of the age old process of making a photo. Its starts with a shutter release, then the film is developed, frames are curated and the best ones are printed. 99% of the artist working with film nowadays send their film to a lab and work with negative scans they get back. That's fine, but negative scans lack contrast, sometimes even the analog grain is replaced with digital noise of automatic dust removal software.. Most prints of shots made on film today are digital prints.

You know where this is heading..

I love to go all the way and print the photo's in my home lab. Every print in this shop is made or is going to be made in the old way, with light and chemistry. Nothing is more satisfying then seeing the final print, to see the real grain of silver halide doing their thing on paper.

So all the prints in this shop are original hand crafted analog prints. The t-shirts, mugs etc which I sell through printful are made with either scans of prints or sometimes digital photos. In every description you can find the exact origin of the image.

I print both black & white and color film. My black and white trays have a maximum size of 40x50 and my color RA4 machine has a maximum of 40cm width. That's about the limit, I can print any size of any analog frame I ever shot. Of course I made a curation of my work for this shop. But you can always request something from my portfolio.. ~~ some history ~~

This shop started when my camera was stolen and a few friends started a crowd funding to help me out. I wanted at least to give back prints for the heartwarming support I received. This was a back in 2018 and it transformed a tragic event into something beautiful.

But of course that was just the start, there are many reasons to keep selling prints. The passion to share my work, to make stuff I'd buy myself, to show that a quality living worth fighting for is a living which some healthy hedonism in it, the everyday need to earn money, your walls do need some nice photos on it, your body needs a t-shirt nobody else has, your tea needs a original mug etc etc.. So I hope you like some of my work. There is also another etsy with my illustrations, a collab with my girlfriend Lotte Dale: www.etsy.com/shop/AlternateCut

stay healthy, stay safe and enjoy life <3
