    Support Handmade!

My journey to the love of handmade started many moons ago when I started making jewelry with whatever I could find at craft stores that I thought was pretty--and cheap. When I got into using lampwork beads, I thought it was just to be expected that one or two on a strand would be cracked, or a couple of raised designs would come off...and that they would be coated in dust.

When I took my first lampwork class, I realized that I had been using sub-standard materials! Properly made lampwork should be durable and beautiful! Since that time, I have worked to educate myself about the quality of mass-produced components--some are good, many are not.

I've learned that supporting other handmade artists also helps the local economies by keeping money in the hands of individuals and families--not corporations. I try to use artisan-made components when possible, whether made by myself or another talented individual!

Treat yourself to a piece of jewelry or beads that are handmade by an artist--there is something much more magical and meaningful about holding something that was created out of vision and passion, than in a factory.

I have been making my own jewelry since about 1997. In 1999, I took a lampworking class, and have been making my own lampwork beads every since. I am a strong supporter of the handmade movement, and try to use handmade components whenever possible!

Thank you for checking out my Etsy shop! I am a glass artist who has been making her own lampwork beads for over 6 years. I strongly believe in the handmade movement as one that supports local artisans--not mass-produced imports from Asia being re-sold by someone who lives in the US.
