Paul and Dy established R/D Record Cabinets in 2016. Paul, a skilled woodworker since his teenage years, inherited his passion from his father, a self-taught carpenter. At four years old, Dy developed an early love for music (Cyndi Lauper’s She’s So Unusual was their first LP), and they spent countless hours as a teen digging through record bins on Melrose Avenue in the mid-90s. Dy and Paul met as college students in 2001. They have been married for over 15 years.
Paul handcrafted a bespoke 12-drawer record storage cabinet for Dy’s LP collection, sparking a small business that has led to over 1,300 custom units built and shipped across the US. Together, their partnership blends a love for woodworking with an audiophile's obsession for records, resulting in meticulously crafted furniture for vinyl collectors everywhere.
They could not do this without Alyssa, Cathy, Charlie, Eduardo, Geoff, Lily, Rhys, Ryan, Scott, Shelly and Vy—who work alongside Paul to handcraft these custom record storage cabinets—all built exclusively in Los Angeles. Dy runs R/D’s business operations and marketing.
