Announcement   My shop features a variety of sewn items. Dish towels have always been a favorite of mine. Cardinal dish towels are my signature item and a favorite during the year but especially around Christmas. +with the shop name, RedbirdOriginals you would expect to see cardinals. You might also find some cute little items for children. Right now it looks like my shop is going to the dogs - lots of dog accessories: bandanas, bow ties, etc. At this time in my life I want to make the things that I enjoy and that make me happy. So it looks like my shop is evolving into a curious mixture of things for dogs, children, weddings with a few other goodies mixed in for fun. Enjoy:)

International customers are responsible for any custom charges, fees, VAT fees, etc. I really enjoy having international customers, I wish I could go with my packages and visit their countries.

I try to ship as soon as possible. In some cases I mail your item out the day it is ordered. Wish I could always do that, just not possible.

I love to sew, to create, to make things that will be enjoyed for a long time.

I really can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't involved with one craft or another. From popsicle houses, macrame, crocheting, sewing doll clothes (you get the idea) - my hands stay busy.

I remember learning to sew Barbie doll clothes when I was a teenager. No my Mom did not teach me, a sweet lady I stayed with had the patience to show me how to sew. Sewing appeals to me. I love the color and the feel of fabric. Going into a fabric shop is my happy place. I like to create my own patterns. A rotary cutter is the best thing ever. Guess you could call me a sewing nerd.

When my job ended, I decided to devote more of my time to managing my shops and creating new things. I want to create items with care and attention to detail.

My granddaughter considers me the best sewer ever. If I can live up to 1% of her faith in me, I will be a success.

I will make every effort to create products that people will enjoy. In this world of mass produced items it is great to have a place to display and promote handmade items. My goal is to make something that will be kept and used for a long time.

I take pride in my work. My prices are set to be competitive but you have to keep in mind that you are buying handmade.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges
Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Please let me know within 14 days that you will be returning item and the reason.
Returns or exchanges must be sent back in original condition (unwashed/unworn) within 21 days of receipt. You, the customer will be responsible for return shipping.

Upon receipt of the return, I will refund or send out replacement item. If there is a price difference on exchanges, I will either repay or send you an invoice for the difference.

Custom orders/monogrammed items can not be returned unless they are defective in some way.
Payment
I accept PayPal or you can use your credit card under the direct checkout option. Add to Cart if you want to purchase other items from my shop & combine shipping or use the Buy it Now button for single purchases.

If you are a resident of South Carolina sales tax (7%) will be added to your purchase.
Shipping
Everything is mailed through the USPS. For both domestic and international mailing, I use calculated shipping which gives the customer the option to choose how they want to receive their package (ex: first class, priority, priority express, etc). You will receive a tracking # when I mail. Once I mail the package it is up to the USPS to deliver and in most cases they do a good job. I do offer an upgrade to Priority 2-3 day which helps rush it along but this is not a guarantee.

*MAILING:
Some of my items are kept "in stock" and usually can be mailed with 2 days. For items that have to be made upon order, it can take up to 4 business days to complete and get into the mail. Check out my Shop Announcements for special messages ex: vacations.

INTERNATIONAL Customers: You the customer will be responsible for any custom fees/duties, VAT taxes &/or additional taxes that you are charged by your country. Custom policies differ from country to country so if you have questions, please see what your country requires.
*Any additional fees charged by your country will be yours to pay - I have no control over them.

Once a package is placed into the mail, it is out of my hands. I did my part now it is up to the postal service to do theirs.

PACKING:
I try to reuse clean packing materials (tissue paper, cardboard, etc). In order to use the easier option of etsy shipping labels I have to add cardboard or bubble wrap to the package of my lightest bandanas and bow ties. This way I get a tracking # which is good for you and for me. I only use this on the lightest items and it does NOT increase your mailing cost at all.

GIFTS:
If your purchase is intended to be a gift, please let me know so I will not send a receipt with pricing. I will be happy to include a gift card, just let me know what to say in the Notes to Seller section.

Please check out Shop Announcement for any messages I need to pass on. I will post vacations or delays in shipping through the shop announcement.

If I do need to communicate with you, I will do so thru etsy conversations. If I don't get a response, will then go through your email.

I try to price every item fairly taking time and materials into consideration. My embroidered items are priced based on difficulty of the design, time involved plus the number of stitches.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I am always open to suggestions. Since most of my items are made when ordered, I will be more than happy to change thread colors.

If you want a totally custom item, please convo (contact) me and let's see what we can come up with.

Are Big Brother or Big Sister bandanas considered special order and can't be returned?

No. To me custom orders are monograms or items personalized with names or initials. As long as the Big Brother or Big Sister bandana is returned in as new condition (buyer pays return cost), I will be happy to exchange or refund. In case of exchanges, I will either invoice customer for the increased price or refund if money is owed.

Problems with mailing: Item arrived damaged

If item is damaged in shipment, please let me know immediately so the problem can be corrected. Would be helpful to send photo of packaging as well as the damaged item.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If your purchase is for a gift, please let me know. I wouldn't want to include pricing information on package receipt.

Gift Card: Will be happy to include a gift card, just let me know what you would like the card to say. My strong suit is not wrapping but I can usually handle a piece of tissue paper and a ribbon if you would like that.

Packaging: some of my smaller items will arrive with a sheet of cardboard in mailing envelope. I have had problems with the postal service delaying, returning or charging customer priority postage on some envelopes. So in the case of the smallest bandanas I am inserting a piece of cardboard to make the package have more bulk. It does not increase the postage at all.

Processing Times / How long does it take for my item to mail?

When I set up my shipping profile, in most cases I give myself 1 to 4 business days (Monday-Friday) to complete your item and into the mail.

The exception would be when I am traveling. I do try to take as many of my most popular bandanas with me and mail from on the road. Info about Vacation will be in shop announcement and in the ITEM DETAILS section.

If you have a date that you need to receive your item by, please let me know so I can try to accommodate your wishes. Priority and upgraded shipping are available when your purchase.

Sizing details

All my sizes are approximate and may vary from the size in the listing.

I try to give some guidelines for the sizing of my dog bandanas. Example: my bandana might fit a dog with a neck of 12" to 18". Please use as a starting point. Your dog's body type, hair length all figure into what size he/she needs.

Tie-on bandanas: I usually allow 10" to 12" for the knot when I come up with suggested neck sizes.
