About

The Empty Nester with Red Boots

When our last child left home, I needed to be busy instead of focusing on how very quiet our home had become. I decided to get serious with crocheting, and also, crocheting relaxes me. I started making scarves for family, friends and myself. Then I saw a knitted buttoned wrap in a boutique, but it was not quite what I wanted. So, I came up with my own version. The turquoise wrap with the big red button was the first item in my shop and seems to still be the favorite. An Etsy shop seemed like a great idea since I was making so many items. I knew I wanted a rustic country feel to my shop, but didn't want to be to obvious in the shop name. One day I looked at my favorite western boots and came up with Red Boot Yarn Works. It conveys my Texas pride without being too literal.

I am a 5th generation Texan and come from a very creative family. My mother and both grandmothers were a huge influence in my creativity. I have always loved crafts, especially needle arts and working with yarn. I love yarns of all kinds!
