I purchased this as a special gift for my daughter and her husband who were absolutely thrilled. I am so happy to have discovered this very talented artist and shall definitely buy from her again.

About

An illustrator of wonderful things -- but mainly cats

I have wanted to be an artist since I was six years old and was given a gold star at school for drawing proper leaves on my tree instead of a wonky green lolly-pop like the other kids. At fourteen, after a school visit by a graphic designer, I decided that in particular, I wanted to be an illustrator. My mind hasn't been changed since then.

I work from my studio in an old converted beer bottling factory called 'Creek Creative', in the medieval town of Faversham along with 45 other artists, designers and craftspeople. It is a lovely building by the creek which used to belong to the brewery Shepherd Neame who have been brewing in the town since the mid 1600s -- in the summer when we have the windows open, all we can smell is warm hops!

My creative process is inspired by my large collection of children’s books, travelling, the natural world, and my daily fix of snooping at other illustrator's fascinating blogs (thank goodness for the internet!) It is then helped along by drinking lots of tea, eating too many biscuits, and listening to my cat snoring, with either Radio 4 or a good audio book playing in the background (an Agatha Christie or P.G. Wodehouse are my favourites).

I love variety in my work, and I create my art in whichever medium takes my fancy at the time. I use everything from coloured pencils to gouache, pastels, inks and paper collage. I love printmaking especially – I really enjoy the whole process as each stage is done by hand. I like the way every print, though printed from the same plate/screen/block, can look slightly different from the last. This makes each individual print original and unique. Lots of the work I do features animals – I love animals and I enjoy drawing them more than anything else.

    Customer Service

My name is Cat, and to be honest, I only got this job because my human Mum owns the shop. My customer service skills aren't great. I'm a cat - what do you expect?!
