Buyers are raving!

This shop got multiple 5-star reviews in the past 7 days.

Announcement    Thank you for stopping by my shop. All my things are made with my own two hands. With so many amazing farms in my area it isn't hard to incorporate local fiber in my spinning as often as possible. I do my best to make sure none of my fiber comes from abused or mistreated animals. Whenever possible I will add a vintage doo dad, clasp or button to finish off a woven, sewn or quilted piece. I hope you are pleased with what you find here.

About reddogyarn

Sales 354
On Etsy since 2020

This shop is part of a lifelong journey that still presents its twist and turns regularly.

As I look back it seems that I have dabbled in so many crafts and art forms, some fleeting some lasting. From drawing and painting to quilting and stitchery and, more recently, fiber arts I have truly enjoyed the journey. Each medium taught me what it needed to to speak in its own voice and then allow me to grow and explore the new possibilities it presented. When I found fiber arts and more specifically the idea of spinning wool I was immediately smitten and I've never looked back. I am a member of my local spinning guild and with them I feel I am a part of a family that understands me. The guild offers a collective wealth of knowledge that keeps me hungry to learn all I can about spinning wool.

In the coming months I hope the expand what I offer at Red Dog Yarn to include prepped raw fiber, carded batts, rolags and more for your spinning pleasure, as well as some hand woven projects using my own hand spun fiber.

The name Red Dog Yarn pays tribute to one of my partners in crime my Red Dog Seamus. He is always there to listen to my rants, never refuses my need to get out of doors and is an all around great companion. My other partner is Kevin my husband whose steadfast support and patients in this endeavor has allowed me to move forward with something I have been dreaming about for far too long.

I have been creating for as long as I can remember. When I was very young my medium of choice was my box of Crayola crayons. As a grown woman I have swapped crayons for fiber and fabric. If I'm not creating I'm probably out walking my red dog Seamus.

Welcome to my shop! It has been a long time in the making but I am happy that I took my time. The pieces you will find all have a personality and vision all their own. I may have a plan when I begin to spin or sew but somewhere along the way that personality comes shinning through and all I can do is hope to stay true to it. All my items are one of a kind and high quality made with the best fibers, fabrics batting and tread. I hope you are pleased and you will share photos and impressions of your purchases!

Additional policies and FAQs
I make everything you see here in my dog friendly, smoke free home. All my fibers and fabrics are stored in such a way to keep the evidence of my red dog to a minimum. I steam or wash all my hand spun yarn in a no rinse mild soap and do my best to ensure that all excess dye has been washed out when necessary. I do use lavender and rose petals sachets when storing and shipping fiber. All quilts are washed prior to shipping with a mild unscented detergent unless otherwise specified.
