About

My Glass Bead Life

Hello and welcome to my shop. I started making jewelry in 2001 and was fortunate to be able to purchase all my supplies at the Tucson Bead, Gem and Mineral Show every year. It was there that I was introduced to the magical world of lampwork beads. I was obsessed. A few years later I was given a bead making class as a gift and have never looked back. Melting glass is mesmerizing, relaxing and my favorite way to create. I also feel proud to be part of the glass community.
I have always loved the outdoors and nature, and I try to add elements of that into my designs. I make my own findings and components from raw metals such as copper, brass and sterling silver.
I love jewelry, I wear it every day. Jewelry makes me smile, and I hope my jewelry will make you smile too.

Welcome to Red Opal Designs. My name is Kiersten Kern and I have been making lampwork beads part time since 2003. Recently I have been able to give my bead making full time attention and enjoy every moment of it. I love using bright colors and encasing to create depth and movement in my beads. I also love the design aspect and will continue to make beaded jewelry that makes people smile.

All of the lampwork beads are one of a kind. I use Moretti, Double Helix, CIM, Vetrofond and Striking Color glass.
All of my beads are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln to ensure strength, durability and lasting beauty.

I hope you will find what you are looking for. Please let me know if you are interested in other items to match.

Photo quality can vary on different monitors. I do my best to keep the colors you see true to the actual piece.

I add sales tax to all Michigan customers.

Thank you for looking,
Kiersten
