About Redthreaded

Redthreaded is a costume business specializing in high quality historically inspired costumes, gowns, corsets, and millinery. These are not your average Halloween costumes, these are truly investment pieces. Cindy's technical theatrical costume training combines with historical costume knowledge and research to bring you quality garments which will last through the ages and make you feel beautiful each time you wear them. Our clients range from the individual costume enthusiast to the Broadway stage.

About Cindy, the Owner

I have had a passion for sewing, historical fashion, film, and theater costumes since my early teens. I received my BFA in Costume Technology, and I have worked professionally at a number of theaters throughout the United States. I opened Redthreaded in 2009 as a way to offer my costuming passion and love of fine workmanship to a wider audience.

I run Redthreaded from my studio just outside of Boulder, Colorado, where I am lucky enough to enjoy a view of the Rocky Mountains just steps from my door.

CUSTOM ORDERS
A non-refundable up front deposit of 50% is required for supplies and initial labor on custom orders. Full up front payment is always preferred, and is the simplest for both Redthreaded and for you, as we can ship your finished piece as soon as it is complete.

CUSTOM ORDER CANCELLATIONS:
Due to the nature of custom work, your initial 50% deposit is non-refundable should you decide to cancel during the custom order process. If you have paid more than 50% towards your balance, you will be refunded minus the deposit.
Shipping
ORDER PROCESSING TIME:
Ready-made items usually ship within 2 business days of purchase. Custom orders ship by the agreed-upon date, according to my turn around times and prompt responses/payment from buyer.

UNITED STATES CUSTOMERS:
All items will be shipped USPS, generally Priority, with tracking and 3rd party insurance. If you would prefer a different carrier, or to use your own shipping account, please contact us prior to purchase for other options. We often ship with clients FedEx accounts for our theatre orders.

Signature confirmation will be included on all orders worth $200 or more. This insures that your valuable purchase makes it into your hands. We may also add signature confirmation for apartment addresses, at our discretion.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS:
We ship USPS First Class or Priority International, insured, depending on item weight. We have had good luck with shipments arriving within 3 weeks around the world, but please understand that in some cases shipping times can be as long as 6-8 weeks. In the event that you need the item by a certain date, please contact us before purchase, or choose one of the expedited shipping options.

International customers are responsible for paying any duty fees incurred at customs in their country. In some countries, these can be as much as 40% of the item price, so please familiarize yourself with your country's duty fees, VAT, etc. to avoid unpleasant surprises. Under no circumstances will a package be marked "gift" or at a reduced value.

SHIPPING ISSUES
Sometimes, things go awry in shipment. If there is a problem (loss or damage), we will file an insurance claim and, depending on the item and the circumstances of the situation, re-ship, re-create, or reimburse value + shipping. You may be required to fill out a quick loss affidavit for the insurer, and provide us with photos of the damage and packaging. In the case of a lost package, we ask that you wait until the window for insurance claims opens (3 weeks in USA, 30-60 days international depending on country) before we re-ship or refund since the package may still be delivered in this time frame. We cover missing packages even if tracking shows "delivered," since we know that parcels can go missing from doorsteps.
Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS
In all cases, you MUST contact us before making a return. Unauthorized returns cannot be guaranteed a refund or replacement, though we do our best to make our customers happy, and will certainly work with you.

IN-STOCK:
In-stock items are returnable for 100% of the cost, minus return postage. Must be put in return post within 7 days of receipt, with tracking number. Must be returned in original like-new condition. Items damaged from abuse or inappropriate wear, as well as items that have obviously been worn to an event, are not returnable.

CUSTOM ITEMS:
Custom items are returnable completely for 50% of the original price, because of the lessened chance of re-sale. Must be returned in original like-new condition. Items damaged from abuse or inappropriate wear, as well as items that have obviously been worn to an event, are not returnable. We are not responsible for fitting problems due to inaccurate measurements, weight gain/loss, pregnancy, or other body changes. Must be put in return post within 7 days of receipt, with tracking number.

FITTING ADJUSTMENTS
CUSTOM ITEMS:
(Items made specifically for you, to your measurements): We want you to be absolutely satisfied with the fit of your custom item. Because of this, we go above and beyond industry standard and allow one return for minor fitting fixes at no extra labor cost. In this case, Buyer pays insured & tracked return postage.

IN-STOCK ITEMS:
We are happy to make adjustments to in-stock items before shipping, for an additional fee. Please contact us to discuss your ideas/needs.
