I'm a dreamer and Europe and the world for me, is all about dreaming and fulfillment of the desire to travel - to feel and witness the everyday hum of other countries. Painting scenes of France is one of my favorite subjects, people in cafes are fascinating to me as well as the surrounding countryside of the towns and cities. My love for travel began as a small child when my wish to be an artist and see the world took hold. I would lovingly study the art postcards my uncle sent me from art museums around the world ,including the Louvre and the Jeu de Paume in Paris . As an adult I've been fortunate to see amazing exhibits at those same institutions. I have sketched in oil pastel and pencil and finalized artworks in soft pastel, oil and acrylic paints. The street sketches like the ones shown above are what I work from to create a painting . For the final artwork I begin the painting journey at one spot on the work surface and build the world I wish to create, stroke by stroke. I have done paintings entirely pleinair but the majority are completed in the studio. I use an Epson printer and archival inks and archival supports to produce my smaller prints.
